I'm just reading the digitalspy thread that RotorTorque suggested and came across this quote, which I think sums the whole thing up pretty nicely;

I think that's such a brilliant way of putting it! Yes, boys (and girls) will have unrealistic expectations given, not just porn, but society in general's projections of what's natural, but they'll still most likely be overthe moon after their first time.
I am SO sending a link to this thread to Channel 4. Seems like they really need to represent other views as well. Really interesting stuff.
Roxy just wanted to reassure you that I watch a LOT of porn and never have come across kid stuff. I think they faked that TBH. I agree it would totally freak me out too. I did come across animal porn on google images once though.

I've never come across kiddy porn either and, looking throught that other board, the general consensus does seem to be that it was likely faked. I think you'd have to look really hard to find something as depraved as that; you certainly never seem to just stumble into it thank god.
I though the whole thing was pretty laughable, but by the end it was just made me angry.
A opportunity missed to have a decent discussion on porn and how it influences kids and what we basically get is a witchhunt towards all things geared towards sex. Lubes are BAD you know! And PC World not selling/enforcing anti-porn software? disgraceful!
For anyone with an anti-porn agenda their grievances should go to the source of it, and the legality of it. Not the ISPs, the software companies, or the people that merely sell computers..?

He he yeah I don't get why they seemed to think that it's NOT the responsibility of parents. We should all help out where we can and for example software being available is a really good thing. But the buck stops with the parents. Have the computer in a communal room duh! Yes resist the whining of your kid. That's what they do! You are the parent, so you set the rules. I never got ANYWHERE near porn until I left home for uni and paid my own broadband bill!
I think the problem will eventually right itself as people exposed to porn at a young age (like myself and a lot of people on here) start having kids themselves.
Computer literate people who don't want their kids to go down the same path, I certainly regret some of the stuff I've seen online. A lot of this stuff isn't just hardcore porn either, there's far worse things out there In my opinion!
In the mean time, we have a generation of completely desensitized young folk wandering around trying to live "normal" lives. Hope they get on well enough, I fear I may be one of the early ones!

Like someone else has already pointed out, following the program by shameless and offering content on their site that would probably be blocked by the child filters is pretty funny.
When they've been getting onto ISP's etc. have they once mentioned that sites such as google have a filter on the image search as standard? Nope...
Teenage smoking, teenage pregnancy, teenage excess... where does the buck stop? Tobacco companies, Porn, breweries? or perhaps just perhaps PARENTS.
Oh my. I agree that the 'porn look' was truly awful. She looked like David Dickinson if he'd have been in an episode of Dynasty! Bad, bad, bad.
My main gripe about last night's show was this; She asked women who spent thousands of pounds a month on looking like hookers if porn was influencing their approach to how they should look. Well, duh, obviously it IS affecting THEM! But the female population at large? I can't speak for the rest of you but thankfully I don't walk down my local highstreet and see any women who look so utterly ridiculous! They truly looked disgusting in my opinion.
Like everyone else, I also agree that it's the parents' responsibility to curb what their kids are seeing. It is just common sense to have the computer in a communal room so that children can't see this kind of thing.
I think it is most definitely the responsibility of parents to be the driving force behind and the caretakers of their own offsprings' sexuality and education (by sexuality I don't mean orientation but what makes them sexual beings and the education thereby). Too often, parents are happy to sit in an alcoholic haze being spoonfed crap on TV instead of spending time with their kids, teaching them about life and the world. For example, tonight, go around your local park or greenspace - will there be families out marvelling at the return of spring and new life? I very much doubt there will be too many.
It's so easy to be involved with your children - watch TV and films with them and discuss what they see (my DD learns more about sex and relationships from watching and talking about Buffy and Juno). As folks say, have the computer in a family room! One of the best thngs I ever did was get a book called The Sex Book by Jane Pavanel for my daughter, which is a no-nonsense A-Z for teenagerrs.
I am so glad I don't have a TV connection - from what you folks are saying, I think I'd have put my foot through it by now!
Kudos to you JayGee. It sounds like you're exactly the kind of clued-up parent the show should be encouraging instead of blaming the computer manufacturers (which I still can't quite believe) and ISPs.
I'm convinced that we are all going to end up big fat babies on floating chairs like the people in WALL:E, taking absoloutely no responsibility for our own lives, never mind that of our children and our community. Unfortunately, there are so many people out there who will be watching this programme and thinking because this so called "sexpert" say it, it must be right. I'm not sorry to bang the drum - this is why we binned our telly.
