tihngs that make you feel old...

I've got band t shirts older than some people at work

I just saw this on Twitter (I'm presuming it's true) and made me feel old, but as it's my birthday that's understandable haha!

"Wanna feel old? Daniel Larusso from Karate Kid, is now the same age as Mr Myagi (Pat Morati) was in the film (51)"

Came across my old brick of a gameboy before. Not used it in absolute years!

But I still use my GB colour. :)

I remember the old PS ones and the dancemats, always used to dance to 'video killed the radio star' on that!

I still have all my Polly Pocket toys, my mother just won't get rid of them. My sister and I had the most rediculous amount of them! We even had Betty Spaghetty's...remember them?

I used to watch Hey Arnold all the time! What about Recess, Cow and Chicken, Ren and Stimpy, Angry Beavers, Catdog, Ed, Edd n Eddy, Johnny Bravo, Barney, Rugrats, Doug, Pinky and the Brain, Dinosaurs, Bananas in Pyjamas, Looney Toons, Boy Meets World, Sister Sister, Fresh Prince, Power Rangers, Wishbone, Dexter's Lab, Sabrina the Teenage Witch...I could go on forever!

Never had a mega drive, sadly :( But I have a DS aswell, although I can't find any of the games for it so it's practically useless!

Remember tamagotchis? I could never keep mine alive...

Man, I miss being a kid in the early 90s.

That reminds me of the Internet Explorer 10 advert

Damn, i miss that cartoon...

I'm sad the Nec CoreGfx didn't really get some recognition... Instead people all had the Nintendo 8 bits, or the SNES (at least in France)... But just knowing about the CoreGfx makes me feel old haha

what makes me feel old? Seeing the same fashion coming round, that was out when I was a teen!

Facebook and Twitter make me feel old.. People think I refuse to change to new technology, but the fact is I don't want to! Such an old thing to say.. Lol!

The fact I walk on a crutch and little old ladies walk past me in almost a stride compared to me!

People give me strange looks when I'm clueless about new tv shows, celebrities or music...

I watched some gaming programme last night and thought 'hey, I see what is 'in' with games these days' and they showed a piece on new tomb raider game.... That programme clearly not aimed at veterans like me! Apparently Lara Croft is 'a young woman' yet no comment on how she must be around 40 in real time! I remember getting the demo off a friend which had Tomb Raider I, the very first one, back in school from a classmate! And then they continued to go on about 'old Lara' being reffered to the Angelina Jolie look in Legend! Outraged I was...

Oh, and people think I'm mad for liking old style turn-based rpgs of the 90's, and have no idea how to play these shoot 'em ups. And if I mention 'Streets of Rage' people's eyes glaze over.. Lol!

Reading this post (being 10 years older than you) makes me feel reeeeeeaaally old hahaha

Remembering my brothers old computer having the games on a cassette that make that hideous noise when you load them which took ages then the game was just a stick man or something.

Im not even that old but i know alot of the people i work with will have no idea what im on about.

Ajajaja, #commadore 64, and that cassette that would only work half of the time!! And floppy disks used in a computer??

I had one of them - it was an Amstrad and had TWO floppy disk drives that took 5.25 inch disks (bet all those that remember floppy disks thought they were only ever 3.5 inches! ) Had to use 1 floppy disk for the Operating System - no hard drives inside the computer in those days! If you had the cheaper version with only 1 floppy drive you had to keep swapping disks between the disk with the operating sysytem and the disk with your program on. Happy Days

Or the spectrum. Which used any old radio with an line out to play :)

20 minutes of loading, and then it fails.

I remember floppy disks actually being floppy :)

Dance Dance Revolution was from 98 :)

I remember most of those, though never got to watch a lot of them. Jonny Bravo was great! I got a game on my phone of that! Did you know that Jonny Bravo was Seth Mcfarnlane's (sp? Family Guy creator) first ever cartoon project?

Dance Mats for PS aren't that old are they? Just replaced by Guitar Hero..

Another thing that makes me feel old is having been practically a house wife for the past 5 years. Nothing wrong with that, but hardly ever getting to go out, meet friends, and being the typical 'good housewife' for the ex, though he never did anything... Coming out of that and seeing my friends and their partners talking of sharing housework equally, making meals for eachother and a touch of romance in there too.. Well... it just makes me feel like I've just come out from the 1950's! Not exactly making me feel old, but the ex's old-fashioned ways (what my friends all call 'sexism') has rubbed off on me a bit...

Do you know how much of a shock and a glimmer of happiness in my heart when my new boyfriend offered me a drink last week? My ex hadn't done that in years! Back when we were still courting, I think!

Whaaa? No, I didn't know that Johnny Bravo was one of MacFarlane's projects...that's brilliant!

I don't know, dance mats probably aren't that old actually thinking about it. They were bloody awesome though. :)

No offence, but your ex sounds like a right chauvinist pig. I'm so happy for you though that you've now found someone that treats you much better, even if it's just the little things. :)

And to everyone talking about floppy disks, I still have loads of mine stored somewhere!

No offense taken.. My ex is a dick, and glad I have the power and motivation to ditch him in the mess he makes... I'd honestly be surprised if he managed to survive on his own without me now. And it bloody well serves him right. He doesn't know this yet, but I've got a solicitor and going to try and take a bunch of his things (smaller tv, old laptop etc) to 'furnish' my new place. And I'm well within my rights to do so.

Right. Gonna stop ranting in other threads now. Sorry folks!

Haha, vent it out!

Well, at least you're not putting up with his shit anymore! One of my friends had the same problem with a guy, she was just fed up of running around after him all the time. The only advice I gave her was to leave him because all he was doing was dragging her down and making her depressed. A lot of men might think they're more inferior to women but I don't put up with shit from anyone!

Anyway, she's a much happier person now she's not with him. And I expect you'll feel even happier once everything's done and over with. I don't blame you though for trying to take some things with you, especially if you're in the right to do so. I genuinely hope everything works out for you! :)

P.S. Sorry for hijacking the thread too. :P

I feel old when I can't stand "modern music"

I feel young when I'm listening to my "old 80's music...."

Tut Tut!!

haha only kidding, Avrielle deserves to be happy after all she's been through bless her! :)

Anyhoooo, Back on topic I suppose lol....

Every time I boot one of my Amiga's or the Atari ST-E kinda makes me feel old but in a good way!

When I listen to old 'rave tapes' from the early 90's again, makes me feel old but reminds me of my care free raving and DJ'ing days where I had no responsabilities, No worries and just generally enjoying my life!

When I talk with my fellow petrol heads about VDubs, And the younger ones havent got a clue what Air cooled is, The difference between a flat, square or notch back type 3, a splitty, oval or square etc etc etc....

The Ibiza party anthem "Groovejet" (aka "If this ain't love, why does it feel so good")by Spiller featuring Sophie Ellis-Bextor was released 13 years ago, in 2000. That's not too bad.

But I remember watching Blue Peter when Janet Ellis was pregnant with Sophie.

One of the most important albums of my teens was (and still is) Primal scream 'Scremadelica' which was released, wait for it, 22 years ago....

And also, staying on the musical theme, remember growing up and hearing a tune (a cover) and people saying 'I remember the original of this, it was much better bla bla blah', and thinking: 'You sad old farts!'

Well I've been doing this for over ten years now (and yes they were right)
