I think if I woke my wife up for sex she’d punch me! Mind you, once I’m alseep I don’t like being woken up either. I only sleep for about 6 hours at most but as my wife commented I’m in a coma. Waking me is very difficult, and makes me seriously cranky.

It’s a somewhat regular occurrence in our house. I’m rarely the instigator in it, but my wife is prone to stress-related insomnia and somewhat regularly awakes in the night, brain starts churning on (usually) work concerns, and can’t get back to sleep. Most of time she’ll write down what she’s thinking about so she can pick it up in the morning or read for a bit to take her mind off it, but if that doesn’t help she’ll see if I’m rousable to give her a go. A good orgasm usually puts her back down pretty easily. I have no objection to this at all! Sometimes if I’m too tired I don’t cum, but otherwise am happy to help.

A long time ago I’d get home at like 12:30 a.m. and my then wife would get up at 6 something a.m. to get ready to go to work herself.
We did that for about a two year stretch.
Our compromise was to split the difference. Some nights we had sex when I got home and some mornings we had sex before she got ready for work.
That way each us had to get up, wake up from being asleep to have sex with each other.
Was it ideal? Nope, but with us on opposite schedules, it’s what we did during those two years long ago.
It isn’t easy of course but something has to be done.
There are other ways to do this of course, not just the way we did.
What’s important is for both in such a relationship to find something that works for them.

I have been woken and have woken a partner up for sex.
Usually it is after a sex dream, still half asleep and cuddling up and touching. They or I wake up and join in.
I have one time been woken by a partner touching me, fully asleep. I touch and kiss them, trying to wake them up. She woke up and was amused that I was being naughty in my sleep. This is an ‘always on the table’ for us. And occasionally MrsH will invite it as the last thing she says before falling asleep. It’s often if we’ve gone for a sexy few nights away, it’s been a busy evening and we’ve fallen asleep, then one of us has woken up with the memory of several hours previous and wanted to carry on.
