I believe they’re not allowed to do anything with it are they! It’s to be left just as it is! Apparently the freezing cold water kept it unbelievably well preserved too!

Nothing eats wood up there due to the ecosystem. Makes for just astounding preservation levels.
Yes, its a national monument as the south pole has different laws so no one can legally own it.
They took some footage of Shackletons cabin though. Just incredible.

The crew recorded very accurately where it went down as the ships captain was a brilliant navigator. Then they worked out where it would have drifted with the ice movement +106yrs.
But i agree, astounding bit of archeology. Really astounding
