Completing my 30th strava challenge so far this year with a 2 1/2hr workout this afternoon and I’m already starting to feel it
and with hindsight probably not my best idea as I’m out on my bike tomorrow

I do miss mountain biking , it has been years since I could ride . I damaged my left hip in 1987 and it has not fixed itself . Been unable to ride since about 2010 . Only got about 5 years out of my last full suspension bike . With my wife disabled I really can’t get my hip replaced , no one to take over my household work . Enjoy the rides !

State of the roads in the U.K. i wouldn’t ride a motorbike on them. Saw a cyclist go over the handlebars hitting a pothole and dread to think what it would have done to a motorbike rider.
I have another small glimmer of hope . About 12 years ago my wife was on a special pain med . Usually when we went on vacation in our motorhome ( caravan ) , she would spend much of the time on the road either out of it or sleeping . That time on the med , she was alert and awake and it was super nice to have " my wife " back .They took her off of it because it was too dangerous , or so they said . Her new pain doctor has been trying different meds , some terrible with little relief . In a week or so he will prescribe the med that worked . Her pain is much greater these days , I am dreaming of it working as good as it did years ago . So far this year in the US this drug ( street version ) has killed 75,000 . All the major pain meds are an opiate based drug . Narcan "Naloxin " is the med used when too much is ingested . Our grandson is a security officer , currently working for a casino . Since becoming a security officer , he has saved over two dozen overdoses using narcan . Anyway I dream of her getting relief and coming out of the med and pain fog she endures daily .

@ WillC my wife’s brother died following an altercation with a pot hole. This was many years ago, he ended up with a cracked skull which wasn’t picked up on Xray, but this lead to Sepsis and death a few weeks later.

Yeah , as a rider I deal with them often . For how much we pay for gas taxes and license tab and registration , one would think the roads would be smooth as a baby’s ass . Nope . My street bike has a 21" front wheel and that helps . My adventure bike can handle them much better . We have an acronym for adventure riding we use , ATHGATT , all the gear all the time . That way if you do do down , you are wearing all your safety gear . As a footnote , when I had my hotrod , shorty van I hit a pothole shortly after installing new tires . Broke cords in the tire . Lucky for me a tire store nearby had a new one and I was able to limp there .

Yeah U.K. roads are a disgrace. I have all the potholes on my work journey commited to memory, and it takes some getting used to when they’re finally repaired and i don’t have to drive like a slalom skier!
Fortunately the cyclist i saw go over his handlebars was more embarrassed than hurt, but it saddened me that i was the only driver to stop to see if he was ok, 4 cars in front of me just carried on.

I spent a fortune on shock wave therapy a few years back after a ligament injury but I have lots of vibes that I don’t use because I didn’t get on with them, maybe I’ll start strapping them to my horse’s legs.
