My partner came back from the shops with a belated boo basket! All my favourite treats
Having to phone a call centre in Scotland for work and the lady on the other end being so chatty and friendly, we ended up talking about how our pets have coped during firework season. It raised my spirits no end, and we spent more time chatting than actually discussing the work related problem.
@WillC it’s cause us Scots love a wee bit of banter social butterflies haha
Yeah and the Irish! I call this call centre regularly and they’re always nice, but this lady was exceptionally friendly and chatty!
I have to say I am a delightful creature, being Irish and all
So ye are!
You do sound delightful @JoCat and the Irish voice would certainly win me over.
My pther half bought a kitten (12 week old maine coon) and i was adiment i wanted nothing to do with hi., ill look after him and thats it.
Im £150 down on pet toys for him and he has chosen me as his main human and climbing frame
This isn’t as life changing as some of the posts here, but it did make me chuckle and then reminisce…
I was out with the lads a couple of nights ago and one of them said “I don’t have to drive tonight, so I can have a couple of sherbets” (I’ll let you guys research that if you don’t know already!)
I laughed and said “I haven’t heard that phrase since my mum and dad were alive, many, many years ago”
He then said “You said to me a while ago ‘Cushdy’ and I hadn’t heard that in ages either”
We then agreed that Del Boy had made the word a lot more famous in Only Fools and Horses, and continued to discuss cockney slang!
Hopefully that made you smile Mrs @Wurger as I know you’ll understand it all
Yes sherbets… know it well not just a cockney saying …
We use sherberts all the time! Didn’t realise it wasn’t mainstream…
Yeah i think Cushty Bock (not sure of spelling) is a Romany phrase meaning OK and Del Boy made it popular.
Well…I live and learn. I thought it was local to my area where I grew up!
Mrs W here …
@Latino_Caliente … Yep used “Kushti” (various spellings) and “sherbet” all my life but whatever company I was in everybody understood the meanings and nobody ever questioned it that I can remember. So seems to be universal English slang …
@Wurger i am sure you are correct. I’m a good 2 hours from the capital (smoke) and i’m sure everyone I know would understand the words kushti and sherbet. Could it be del boy that made it national?
@steve19 … Mrs W here … Thank you. Yes, I am sure that “Del Boy” made the term “kushti”(various spellings) more likely/acceptable to be used Nationwide. The term “sherbet” I guess was used Nationally long before “Del Boy” … when you say you are a “good 2 hours from the capital”, do you mean walking or running? xx
In a car. About 2 hours to the end of the M1 (Edgeware).
By train about the same but into St Pancras which is nearer the centre. @Wurger
Had a FaceTime call with my sister and niece. They’re in Florida right now, and just seeing my nieces face and telling me everything that she’s done, and just watching the videos makes me cry. And we’ll be booking our trip soon
@KinkyMira … it would be so funny if you worked as a sales rep for a lingerie brand.
On the knicker subject , my wife has been known to take them off when we are out for the night. She will come back from the loo and put her scrunched up knickers in my hand or pocket.
Doing either( not wearing or taking off) has the same effect.
She’ll then send me to the bar , knowing im struggling to hide my obvious visible appreciation. ( she can be evil)
I am guardedly optimistic currently . My wife switched pain meds recently . They seem to be working better , which in turn enables her to cut back on her nerve medicine and muscle relaxers . We both have noticed she is more alert and removes some of my care taker stress . A big part of the challenge is to get her to move more and help on some of the household chores . She feels guilty that our dog is fat and says she needs to walk him . He stays by her almost 24/7 , when she does not move he does not either . She needs to build her muscles up and drop some weight . It is always a fine line trying to encourage her to do so . Once again , there is a small light at the end of the tunnel . In my wildest dreams , maybe we could travel a little and dare I say , get back to some sex ?
