What Contraception do people use?

I got a vasectomy about 2 years ago, but we still either used condoms or I never penetrated her with myself, always toys. Honestly, we had concerns the vasectomy didn't take and couldn't chance having more kids. Come to find out it actually improved our sex life doing things differently.

You sound very reasonable. Do you take bookings? šŸ™‚

Haha - and No! The waiting list is just too long...

Currently, I'm only using condoms. Had an IUD but it f-cked me up, so I had it removed and switched back to pills. They were seriously affecting my mood and my breasts were really sore, so I stopped taking them. I'd like to get sterilized, but can't deal with it right now... So, yeah, just condoms.

Had a vasectomy over 30 years ago , best decision ever . When I was much younger and co workers would say they did not wish to get clipped and their wife did not want to get fixed . Asked what the safest sex would be , I always said let me fuck her . For some odd reason , quite a few would get angry ? My same answer for if they asked how to get their wife off better and faster . For some odd reason they would come to me for sexual advice . Maybe being a Emergency Medical Tech . along with body builder , not to mention a bit of a biker .

I use the DEPO injection. The OH and I are young, the doctors first tried oral pills but then didnt work because my metabolism changes too much in any one day meaning even if i swallowed the pills at the same time every day, it wouldnt always be in my system on time, this lead to constant periods. The injections skip the disgestion stage and work great

Mini pill I prefer it over condoms

Pull out / withdrawal.

I used to have the pill, but it had side effects I didn’t like after a while. And last year, I discovered that my ovaries don’t let eggs mature, ever. That was after trying to get pregnant and it not working. Also discovered my intersex issues at the same time.

So…no contraception since I can’t get pregnant. My female partners don’t use contraception because they still want more kids. Although, if they want to delay a bit, they use the ā€œpull out and shoot it in somebody elseā€ method. My GF had her tubes removed after her fifth baby, for medical reasons.

Has anyone had any bad reactions or side affects from the coil? We need a natural method and currently use condoms which have always worked a treat and her app which knows her cycle, but that added protection would be nice

I’m on the pill :pill:

Husband had the snip after our last was born. I’m perimenopausal and having a few issues so currently under my GP for this. Hysterectomy might be the end result.

I was on the pill for a time before and after we married, then struggled to conceive so spent a long time using no contraception. After our family was complete we made a mutual decision that vasectomy was best in our situation.

We use no additional contraception now.

My wife had a tubal before I met her and I had a vasectomy shortly after. You could say we are double bagged I guess. During my free sex days it was always a condom.

@ awkward-yet-sweet Would love to talk to you and some of the folks you know about this more to help my personal understanding if that makes sense. No idea on how to do that given there is no direct messaging on this site and I do not participate in any so called social media. Regardless, I appreciate your honest sharing on these message boards.

i belive the withdrawal method is not 100% as pre-cum still contains sperm (please someone correct me if i am wrong)

As for myself, always a condom unless it is with a long term partner who is on birth control (implant, iud, pill) and that is something we have mutually agreed upon

That is correct. The little swimmers are way less but still there.

I went onto the Depo-Provera injection very soon after I started having sex and with regular partners was all that was needed. Obviously, in singleton years, with the addition of a condom for STD reasons.

I stayed on it longer than they liked because I liked it and was very loath to switch to a different method but due to the bone density issues I was told I had to have a break. I had two implants (Nexplanon) for the following 6 years which compared to Depo, I hated. No major side effects but the irregular bleeding and effect on blood sugar levels (as a type 1 diabetic) drove me mad.

In my later 30s, I was allowed to switch back to Depo and, at just short of 40 now, I have been told I can stay on it until I reach 50 so no more bleeding and no risk of pregnancy (before 50). Hooray!

What’s to understand about contraception? Like, the method?

I was ablated at 45 due to severe endometriosis after having my second kid. Best thing ever! Wish I’d had it 5 years earlier. No more monthlies, no worrying about getting pregnant. And seems to have made it really easy to sail through the menopause

My wife had a tubal and I had a vasectomy before we met. Double bagged you could say.
