Why do you moan during sex?

I read an article on why females moan during sex.
It outlined the reasons of pleasure, but also pain, boredom and mainly for the pleasure of their partner.
Here’s a clipping from the article:
“The researchers found that many of the women did make noise but not necessarily while they were having an orgasm. Instead, 66% said that they moaned to speed up their partner’s climax, and 87% stated that they vocalized during sex to boost his self-esteem.“While female orgasms were most commonly experienced during foreplay, copulatory vocalizations were reported to be made most often before and simultaneously with male ejaculation,” the researchers wrote. Women also reported making noise to relieve boredom, fatigue and pain/discomfort during sex. So, is female vocalization during sex just a performance for a guy’s benefit?”
Honestly, I sometimes will moan out of boredom, and a lot because my partner finds it sexy.

Most of my moaning is for my partner to try and encourage him and to boost his self esteem. When I’m on my own I make very little noise even when I climax. The noises I do make when I’m on my own is very soft moaning that you would struggle to hear. With my partner I do make a point to be louder as he likes to hear me.

I tend to moan quietly when I’m really enjoying myself and a wee bit louder when I’m reaching the point of no return.
If I’m quiet I’m thinking about all the other things I could be doing or wishing for it to be over

I usually moan because of his laziness, lack of general cleaning and tidying

But in the bedroom I moan because it feels good and sometimes the motions just make me moan. Althought it’s no good because I usually have to force myself to keep it quiet.
But when we get the chance to be alone and loud, then I can just let go and not have a care in the world. As it gets more enjoyable and instense, I find myslef moaning louder to let him know that good things are happening and he needs to continue :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Mixture of reasons really. I moan because it feels so good what he’s doing, along with the kissing and his hands on me adds to the pleasure, trying to stay quiet, but when it gets too much, he has to put his hand over my mouth :face_with_hand_over_mouth: but when we’ve got the place to ourselves, I know that I can let go and make the noises that he loves to hear, and that just makes him go that little bit more, making it more intense.

That’s super interesting. So far I haven’t been able to vocalise much at all, I don’t know if it’s just the remnants of the suppression of my sexual side or what. I tend to convey everything through breath and he seems to read my body and my breath well enough I haven’t really felt the need to get loud, but that doesn’t necessarily mean I’m not having strong sensations about proceedings! :innocent:

The closest I’ve gotten is recently when he gave me 2 powerful orgasms and some kind of little noise came out. And tonight it was so intense half way through when he asked if I was okay pulling out (condom broke) I was like yes YES cos I didn’t want it to stop and it was in a voice I didn’t recognise from myself. Maybe that counts.
I need to work on this because I love it when he comes and moans, but he’s a usually quiet one too. I just find it really difficult for some reason.

The OH normally moans, because when she is staring at the ceiling, she realises that it needs repainting.:wink::wink:

Most moaning my OH does is when I spill coffee on the worktop without realising…

In our home life it’s the OH that does all the moaning and therefore I do all the groaning, grunting etc in the bedroom.

I do all the moaning in the bedroom because I’m enjoying myself, I’m relaxed in my surroundings and situation and there is no need to show any inhibitions. The moans and groans just escaped no matter how hard I try to stifle them.
I’ve always thought of it an an involuntary reaction to pure pleasure, so when my nipples are being played with I just can’t stop myself

Im not very vocal but its almost like communication without words. I moan when i find what hes doing nice and tend to quiet down if he starts doing something im not really feeling at that moment. I do use my words aswell but he enjoys hearing me moan in pleasure. I feel it in his body and his energy. Its all part of the experience i think

As an alternate perspective, I’ve always been asked why I never make a noise when the women in my life are extremely vocal at a primal level. Even roommates and or next door neighbors have asked me this.

I’ve always just said I’m a quiet “lover.” It’s more a control thing for me in hindsight though. I never wanted or could, let a woman have that power over me…(and know it). It was a self preservation/protection thing.

Ms.Anony though, has finally yanked me out of my shell. Only she and one other from my past have ever done so. Ironically they share the same birthdate. Just one was Italian and Ms.Anony’s Creole Black. We often joke about that and the oddity of it.

It was only in letting go of that with Ms.Anony’s help (only), that I’ve found sexual freedom…imagine that. Vulnerability and acceptance, freedom and lasting intimacy. Whodathunkit?

So, anyway, …I moan…”Good Girl” related vocalizations to Ms.Anony’ only. Not just for myself but to encourage her to keep doing what she’s doing. (Yes we have a DD/lg thing and always have), after I made sure it wasn’t in some way negatively associated. And that in itself was a freeing experience. I’ve always been grossed out when others wanted to call me that.

My moaning is pleasure based rather than performance, I don’t control it. If I’m making noises then I like it and keep going, the closer I get to orgasm the louder I seem to get and more frantic.
If I’m not making any noise, theres a reason.

Love to hear my man moan - to me it’s a sign to slow down otherwise it’s clean up time

Personally I moan a lot - but nothing to do with sex… :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I personally love hearing my man moan during oral, whether that be hubby or his mate  it tells me I’m doing a good job plus hearing them getting vocal with words turns me on, I’m the same when I’m receiving oral and during inter course, I have to let him know how much I’m enjoying the attention and pleasure I’m receiving. I am a lot quieter when we don’t have the house to ourselves. Luckily hubby’s friend is recently divorced and lives alone :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: xx

I don’t make a sound, think that is also down to self preservation, as I spent a lot of my life being told to be quiet, or shut up.
Hubby finds it incredibly annoying, but inner self stops me, and fear of judgement.

Hubby is vocal, not loud, just letting me know he’s enjoying what I’m doing for him.

Much the same as you @Kh1985 , sometimes if I have had multiple orgasms I sort of lose control and get a bit noisy

I don’t moan. Too much like a porn video, and it seems cheesy, unnatural, and unnecessary.

I do, however, whimper just a little bit. Because I’m small and helpless, and apparently its cute. Usually its because I’m desperate and can’t cum or because I’m cumming really hard and it almost hurts. Or because I’m getting my sensitive parts whipped and it hurts but also feels good.

This has made me both sad and angry!!

A bit of heavy breathing and moaning at the climax.

The most moaning is when my OH plays with herself.
For me it must be at the end of a BJ…
