Would you Buy Second Hand?

@Purring-Pussy That is an interesting thought,i wonder if it would change peoples thinking knowing it had only been used once as a test product, somehow i don’t think it would make much difference to most people but it is an interesting thought. :+1:

@wildflower You are in good company as everyone else seems to feel the same,us included.

It’s more to do with the weird feeling that the item has been inside a total stranger rather than issues with chipped glass etc although I agree , that wouldn’t be good at all .

I think what helped the sale of lightly used toys were the low prices for an otherwise expensive toy. I was tempted, I must say.

I totally get where you are coming from .

Good point.

As a ‘planet person’, I have to say yes
On @WillC’s point about imperfections: an acquaintance of mine grabbed my LH Metal Butt plug off my discreet side display (posted on the toybox ) and hurled it across the room - great choice of weapon, it is substantially heavy!, but terrible shot. If skimmed off the thing that holds down carpet between doors and picked up a couple of nicks. Some wet and dry paper later and it has lost some of it’s shine on one side but the scratches are gone and it still feels amazing.
The funny side to this story is she genuinely didn’t know what it was (or where it had been!)

It’s a very interesting question because I have a few toys that just didn’t work for me, which I would happily sell - but I wouldn’t buy used toys myself. Bit of a one-way market so I guess I’ll just cut my losses.

My answer to this is to see each toy purchase as a good date. If it costs the same as a nice dinner or a dance in a club with a few G&Ts but doesn’t go further, it was still a nice evening :grinning:

I am a complete Womble and buy virtually everything I can second-hand, but ye gods I value my vagina and clitoris far too much to want to risk it with preloved toys.

I’d buy glass and metal second hand, they’re very easy to completely sterilize and I’m not really bothered that the toys have been inside someone else. I probably wouldn’t buy silicone second hand (maybe if it was at an extremely cheap price and the item had only been used once or twice), even though it’s a safe and non-porous material it can occassionally be prone to tearing, which lets bacteria in.

I would absolutely NEVER buy anything porous second hand, I wouldn’t even buy a porous toy brand new.

TLDR: If I saw someone selling an njoy Eleven for a third of retail price I’d snatch that up asap

I’m thinking there may be mileage in this. Considering the responses so far, low mileage granted, but an opportunity all the same. So, given that most of us are pulled to this forum principally by a common desire to test sex toys, who would be up for testing suitably sanitised ‘pre loved’ sex toys?

  • Yep, I’d give it a go
  • Are you insane? No way!

Another cautionary, but relevant, life tale that I hope I don’t bore you with. Several years ago, I had a very low speed spill on the motorbike in the snow (OK, I know!). Jumped straight back on. No harm done. Full of the joys of June, several months later, I went to pick up said bike from the MOT to be greeted with news of failure due to a hairline crack in the brake lever. Yeah, that might not have ended well. Given my previous aside about the butt plug missile, the unknown history of a potential test subject is a serious consideration. Who dares wins?

Like seriously I am the queen of eBay bargains but when it comes to sex toys or anything sex related I’d always buy new.

In reality the potential money saving doesn’t outweigh the risk.

Sorry no, would never. I don’t even really care for second hand books all that much let alone something goin inside me.

@Enchantress29 How can you not like second hand books? They have so much more character than crisp new pages; knowing that someone else has been taken through the same but also totally unique journey through the letters forming words, to sentences to story, creating images in the mind. Admittedly a sex toy journey may not have the same romance…
… but then again

I like crisp new pages, most of my books even multiple read ones look new cause I treat them with such care to keep them that way. You do you and enjoy but I do not and the thought of someone else does nothing for but make me wonder how clean the book is.

that’s a hard ‘no’ from me

@Enchantress29 i’m with you, i use a bookmark, never turn a corner over, or bend the spine! My books are pristine! (Loving the new avatar pic! )

@WillC Exactly! Heck I make sure not to even hold them open to much as I don’t want that line on the binding. Also thank you!
