It was amusing to say the least. My OH did joke about watching porn- I said he had his fare share of it from that little scene.
I can't think of any other movie sex scenes in particular. I think movies in general do better in building that sexual tension though. This is a very interesting thread. WIll be looking out for any of the movies mentioned.

Starship Troopers: Johnny pulls Dizzy's shirt over her head and stops when her arms are still trapped in it and all of her face is covered but her mouth and kisses her. I always thought that little bit of bondage lite was particularly hot.
On the other hand, the movie Secretary, which was all about dominance and spanking and such, was a complete disappoinment. I can't really put my finger on why, either.
Gennifer Tilly and Gina Gershon in Bound - blisteringly hot seduction that's all about the build up.
Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo in the remake of the Thomas Crown affair - passionate, fun and sexy, goes on for ages and the accompanying song by Wasis Diop, just lovely.

I'll nominate Kim Basinger's masturbation scene in "9½ Weeks". It was the first time that I'd taken myself to the cinema to watch an "18" rated film containing sex scenes, and I was on tenterhooks as I queued up for a ticket, hoping that I wouldn't be seen by anyone who recognised me. Those who know the scene will understand that it isn't particularly explicit, but that it catches the mood rather well. It certainly worked for me. Sitting in the darkness, I suddenly became aware that I had developed a massive hard-on, and that I must have been blushing red as well, judging by the unfamiliar stinging of red-hot needles on my face. I was glad that the cinema wasn't very full and that I'd chosen a seat where I was largely on my own, or else others may have noticed me shifting around uncomfortably. I sat through the rest of the film and then scooted quickly back to my place where I relived (should that be "relieved"?) the scene again in private.
Hopefully that explains why it's still one of my favourite movie scenes. As an aside, I rarely find sex scenes as such particularly arousing. I generally prefer passionate and erotic scenes in which the tension is palpable, without necessarily being explicit. Hmm... I'll have to think of some examples now...

As for me, my favourite sex scenes aren't always hardcore ones!
One of my all time favourites is in Little Ashes. The film is general is about Dali, so there's a lot of mild guy-on-guy love... Though the major sex scene is only a weeny bit homoerotic... I think the scene is wonderfully simple and painful, as well as steamy!
