So an interesting question with a long answer: a lot of my liberal views towards sex are because of my parents’ (particularly Mum’s) attitudes and behaviours towards sex.
Basically, my Mum told me that sex wasn’t enjoyable for women, we just do it to please men and women who enjoy sex are weird. So for a long time I believed that sex was dull and unenjoyable, then I had sex for the first time and I enjoyed it. I was 19 when I lost my viriginity - it seemed pointless to me if I wasn’t going to enjoy it!
I later learned that my parents were swingers, but rather than saying she’d had problems in the swinging lifestyle, my Mum just gaslit me about women’s experiences of sex. Just another of my mother’s misdeeds against me.
So, now that I enjoy sex and I’ve learned a lot about it (including that enjoying sex is a good thing!), I try to be a safe and helpful space for others who enjoy - or want to enjoy - sex
