it seems that in order to progress we need to spend half our lives dedicated to the forum. as much as i get it helps flush out alot of stuff it is also very off putting for people. i can see so many members that where frequent users giving up.
Iāve just coloured everyoneās hearts in just for bringing this feature to my attention.
Iām so bad at badges/likes etc., Iāve been afraid to take a look at the little symbols under everyoneās posts in case I report/blow up etc., the whole thread!
Iām not sure I understand what you mean by āprogressā? The new layout has all the old features, and you can pretty much use them straight on sign-up.
If youāre concerned about Trust Levels, getting to level 2 is really easy. Thereās a bit more about them in Trust Levels and Badges?, and thereās also a handy Badge guide (with notes ) in Forum Badges .
I wouldnāt worry about the Badges too much. And Trust Level 2 gives you photo privileges, but not much else (and viewing them is open to anybody, itās only the posting of them thatās restricted to people who have been around at least a couple of weeks ).
It is possible. So be carefulā¦
Edit: It isnāt possible. Just in case Iād made you doubt yourself. There is no (known) way to detonate this topic using any of the buttons youāre allowed to press. Rest easy, and explore in peace.
ah ok. i was a member on old forum. in all honesty i didnāt contribute much , had a browse for advice etc but no communication. so what about friends then i noticed they dissapeared. is that not something that comes with trust levels or is that a feature completely gone?
The friends list was a legacy even for the old forum. Once they ditched Private Chat a number of years back (too messy to moderate) it really had no clear purpose. You could sort of use it to jump to peopleās profiles and see their latest posts and reviews, but it was a bit of a fudge.
(Thereās a bit about it in the old Forum FAQs)
Theyāve still got to join up some stuff, so Iām looking forward to seeing how they do that, but until then the Search on this new place is brilliant. If you want to look for any members posts you can put an @ and their username (@Happychappy85) into the Search box and itāll find everything (and you can order it too, and lots of other little tricks when you get used to it )
I think your old page should still be up (though I donāt know how long for) if you want a look?
https://www.lovehoney.co.uk/community/members/happychappy85/
(Iām not 100% sure this is yours as it looks quite empty? Let me know if itās not and I can have another little forage for it )
sweet. yeah i suppose it meant you could see profiles of people who are set to private because they are in your friends list though? regardless its not really what a forum is about i suppose. yeah as i said mate i didnāt really contribute so iām not on moaning lol my comment to op was really just an observation . i really just searched for subjects for information as opposed to socialising. thanks for the information and input
No worries. And youāre more than welcome to complain whenever you like if you feel like it.
The last place didnāt have a āprivate profileā option, and this one is private(/hidden) by default, so I think itās catching a few people out.
(if you do want to open yours up itās:
Profile Picture ā Username ā Preferences ā Interface
And you uncheck the āHide my public profile and presence featuresā box )
Like I mentioned above, the Search is fantastic now, or at least it definitely is compared to the last one (as that was ). Hopefully itāll help you get some answers quicker the next time you search.
In a similar vein I always thought that the grading system on the old forum didnāt sit very well.
I found it difficult to align a military rank on a forum which is basically talking about sex and love. Not that I am saying that military personnel do not have sex and love people and may post on here! Just to cover my arse.
I seem to recall on a thread that someone proposed that one of the LH team could be known as the āchief dildo wranglerā for their well received advice and I thought that it would make a far better rank than āField Marshalā.
Then I started conjuring up my own such as Lube Sommelier, Butt Plug Guru, Senior Strap On Mentor. Well, I am sure you get the gist.
I seem to have gained a few badges - but where are those for first post redacted by mod, first post flagged by someone else and recanted, first thread deleted completely?
Howās everyone getting on with the Badges? Has the initial excitement worn off, or are people still looking for a boost?
Was never excited about them in the first placeā¦donāt care how many I have.
Iām sure Iām not the only one either.
Then this topic probably wonāt interest you.
I am like CurveyJilly dont see what they worth may be abit thick
I think itās good to get a varied opinionā¦seen as it was addressed to āeveryoneā
And you gave it. Thank you.
Edit: In fairness though, Iāve just had a quick look and you do have quite a lot of them. I think the topic was originally started so the people that may not be in a friendship clique on here could swop a few Likes and maybe join in that way. It seems to have fizzled out a bit now, and I just wanted to make sure we werenāt leaving anyone behind.
I think theyāre just a bit of fun. Each Badge will tell you how to achieve it, and thereās more info in Forum Badges (but only if youāre interested ).
I donāt make it my goal in life to grab as many badges as I can but I accept it all in the spirit in which it is intendedā¦as a bit of harmless fun. Iām a bit trigger happy on pressing the Like button!
I remember you were concerned at one point that the Likes and Badges could have a negative impact. Are you a bit happier with them now youāve seen them in action for a while?
Yeah, I do remember saying that to start with but must admit I canāt see that there are any real negatives now so Iām happy with they way things have gone I think my concerns were mainly to do with the the Photos aspect of it but again, everything seems ok
