Actively pursue badges here?

it seems that in order to progress we need to spend half our lives dedicated to the forum. as much as i get it helps flush out alot of stuff it is also very off putting for people. i can see so many members that where frequent users giving up.

Iā€™ve just coloured everyoneā€™s hearts in just for bringing this feature to my attention.

Iā€™m so bad at badges/likes etc., Iā€™ve been afraid to take a look at the little symbols under everyoneā€™s posts in case I report/blow up etc., the whole thread!

Iā€™m not sure I understand what you mean by ā€˜progressā€™? The new layout has all the old features, and you can pretty much use them straight on sign-up. :+1:

If youā€™re concerned about Trust Levels, getting to level 2 is really easy. Thereā€™s a bit more about them in Trust Levels and Badges?, and thereā€™s also a handy Badge guide (with notes :slightly_smiling_face:) in Forum Badges :badger:.

I wouldnā€™t worry about the Badges too much. And Trust Level 2 gives you photo privileges, but not much else :slightly_smiling_face: (and viewing them is open to anybody, itā€™s only the posting of them thatā€™s restricted to people who have been around at least a couple of weeks :+1:).

It is possible. So be carefulā€¦ :slightly_smiling_face:

Edit: It isnā€™t possible. Just in case Iā€™d made you doubt yourself. There is no (known) way to detonate this topic using any of the buttons youā€™re allowed to press. Rest easy, and explore in peace. :vulcan_salute::slightly_smiling_face:

ah ok. i was a member on old forum. in all honesty i didnā€™t contribute much , had a browse for advice etc but no communication. so what about friends then i noticed they dissapeared. is that not something that comes with trust levels or is that a feature completely gone?

The friends list was a legacy even for the old forum. Once they ditched Private Chat a number of years back (too messy to moderate) it really had no clear purpose. You could sort of use it to jump to peopleā€™s profiles and see their latest posts and reviews, but it was a bit of a fudge.

(Thereā€™s a bit about it in the old Forum FAQs)

Theyā€™ve still got to join up some stuff, so Iā€™m looking forward to seeing how they do that, but until then the Search on this new place is brilliant. If you want to look for any members posts you can put an @ and their username (@Happychappy85) into the Search box and itā€™ll find everything (and you can order it too, and lots of other little tricks when you get used to it :+1:)

I think your old page should still be up (though I donā€™t know how long for) if you want a look?

(Iā€™m not 100% sure this is yours as it looks quite empty? Let me know if itā€™s not and I can have another little forage for it :+1:)

sweet. yeah i suppose it meant you could see profiles of people who are set to private because they are in your friends list though? regardless its not really what a forum is about i suppose. yeah as i said mate i didnā€™t really contribute so iā€™m not on moaning lol my comment to op was really just an observation . i really just searched for subjects for information as opposed to socialising. thanks for the information and input

No worries. :slightly_smiling_face::+1: And youā€™re more than welcome to complain whenever you like if you feel like it. :slightly_smiling_face:

The last place didnā€™t have a ā€˜private profileā€™ option, and this one is private(/hidden) by default, so I think itā€™s catching a few people out.

(if you do want to open yours up itā€™s:

Profile Picture ā†’ Username ā†’ Preferences ā†’ Interface

And you uncheck the ā€˜Hide my public profile and presence featuresā€™ box :+1:)

Like I mentioned above, the Search is fantastic now, or at least it definitely is compared to the last one (as that was :dog2::poop: :slightly_smiling_face:). Hopefully itā€™ll help you get some answers quicker the next time you search. :+1::slightly_smiling_face:

In a similar vein I always thought that the grading system on the old forum didnā€™t sit very well.

I found it difficult to align a military rank on a forum which is basically talking about sex and love. Not that I am saying that military personnel do not have sex and love people and may post on here! Just to cover my arse.

I seem to recall on a thread that someone proposed that one of the LH team could be known as the ā€œchief dildo wranglerā€ for their well received advice and I thought that it would make a far better rank than ā€œField Marshalā€.

Then I started conjuring up my own such as Lube Sommelier, Butt Plug Guru, Senior Strap On Mentor. Well, I am sure you get the gist.

I seem to have gained a few badges - but where are those for first post redacted by mod, first post flagged by someone else and recanted, first thread deleted completely? :see_no_evil:

Howā€™s everyone getting on with the Badges? Has the initial excitement worn off, or are people still looking for a boost? :slightly_smiling_face:

Was never excited about them in the first placeā€¦donā€™t care how many I have.

Iā€™m sure Iā€™m not the only one either.

Then this topic probably wonā€™t interest you. :slightly_smiling_face:

I think itā€™s good to get a varied opinionā€¦seen as it was addressed to ā€œeveryoneā€

And you gave it. Thank you. :+1::slightly_smiling_face:

Edit: In fairness though, Iā€™ve just had a quick look and you do have quite a lot of them. :slightly_smiling_face: I think the topic was originally started so the people that may not be in a friendship clique on here could swop a few Likes and maybe join in that way. It seems to have fizzled out a bit now, and I just wanted to make sure we werenā€™t leaving anyone behind. :+1:

I think theyā€™re just a bit of fun. :slightly_smiling_face: Each Badge will tell you how to achieve it, and thereā€™s more info in Forum Badges :badger: (but only if youā€™re interested :slightly_smiling_face:).

I donā€™t make it my goal in life to grab as many badges as I can but I accept it all in the spirit in which it is intendedā€¦as a bit of harmless fun. Iā€™m a bit trigger happy on pressing the Like button! :slightly_smiling_face:

I remember you were concerned at one point that the Likes and Badges could have a negative impact. Are you a bit happier with them now youā€™ve seen them in action for a while?

Yeah, I do remember saying that to start with but must admit I canā€™t see that there are any real negatives now so Iā€™m happy with they way things have gone :slightly_smiling_face: I think my concerns were mainly to do with the the Photos aspect of it but again, everything seems ok :+1:
