First Saturday of the Month

I've been avoiding this thread as I'm really disorganised this month.

I still haven't got around to it and it's not looking hopeful until Thursday the earliest ![](upload://kym5tZ5EfyJxs6TKHB1Q2HtGSpK.gif)

I haven't got enough USB sockets to do the whole lot in one go - and even if I did I expect getting everything out at once would make my bedroom look like a sex den. I have different collections in boxes / drawers and try to do the whole battery maintenance thing once a week with one box / drawer. It doesn't seem to matter if I miss a week.

If it is any consolation, one of my first DOTD / Freebie (can't remember which) was the Desire Rabbit, which looked so intimidating at the time that I charged and used it once then left it under the bed for several months. On rediscovering it I know to use it after enjoying other toys, and its hibernation time doesn't seem to have done it any harm...

I think once a month is good practice, but I don't think it matters too much if toys get negleted for a while... don't quote me if one breaks!

Happy Vibrator Maintenance Day! 🙂🎉

Getting a collection out to check and charge may be somewhat problematic at the moment depending on how much family you have stuffed into Lockdown with you, but maybe people could share some tips on how to do it with a touch of extra stealth?

And I wouldn't worry too much if you have to skip a month, most rechargeable toys can last two to three months on standby. And even if they run flat they don't die/become bricks straight away, so there's a nice bit of leeway as a buffer. 👍

Thank goodness for this thread! I for one need this timely reminder ![](upload://ez5kOkpKXRZOxjavAURYmQxVTau.gif)

We don't have any youngsters living at home anymore so I can happily leave my stuff on display in the bedroom charging away. I appreciate this might be more of a problem for others though....how about just popping things on charge at night? Or, if you have a garage or shed with a power supply, charge them in there away from prying eyes.

I wonder if anyones thought of fitting a plug socket inside a built in wardrobe or cupboard? Bit extreme I know but at least toys could be charged out of sight!

My kids are still quite young so I can just shut the bedroom door to get some privacy, but when they get a bit older I think I'm going to get one of those desk drawer units with castors on and knock up a little charging station. 🙂 I think I'll go with one that has a lockable drawer and cupboard rather than all drawers, and I'll drill a hole in the back to run an extension cord through, and then pop a multi-USB socket in the cupboard bit. 👍

That sounds like a great idea ....discreet and practical!

It's that time again... 🙂👍

Thanks for the timely reminder! ![](upload://lJMrTcqgi5lI1FOpb07OYOcv2YF.gif)

Oh, hell! I'd forgotten again.

Looks like I'll be busy tomorrow...

I think I've finally lost one. I've had the Desire Pebble and the Mantric G-spot toy on the ropes for a while, but the Mantric has finally given up the ghost. 🙂 The Desire one charges and works, but still won't hold its charge overnight, and the Mantric one now charges but won't switch on. On the upside, now it's finally dead I can experiment with it. 🙂 I think I'm going to smear the Lovehoney silicone lube over it and leave it to see if it degrades, and after how much exposure. 👍

How long have you had them do you think? The Mantric Gspot toy, and Mantric pebble (forgotten the official name) are my favourite toys and my favourite combo. Everything will be having a clean and charge today! The toy box is calling for a good sort out!

I got the Desire Pebble on the 29/03/18, and the Mantric G-spot on the 25/05/18. The Mantric was the first to go weird (would charge and work, but wouldn't hold a charge overnight) around 06/07/19, and then the Desire Pebble did the same around 10/08/19. 👍

These are just mine ones though, I can't say how representative it is of the models as a whole.

Ooh l'd be interested to know how that experiment goes ![](upload://lJMrTcqgi5lI1FOpb07OYOcv2YF.gif)

Me too!

Maybe you could play with it with the lube and wash it a few times first to give it a kind of real life setting first, though?

I'm thinking initially applying silicone lube, leaving for 30 minutes, and then washing off with soap and water. I'll repeat that for a few days to see if that has an effect. If that seems okay I think I'll apply for 60 minutes a time, before washing off with soap and water. And if that's fine I'll apply for 60 minutes and then wipe off with a baby wipe to see if that's just as good. After that I'll go full on and leave it smothered in the stuff overnight and see if that has any effect. 🙂👍 I've not started yet though, so if anyone has any suggestions chuck them in and I'll see what I can do. 👍🙂

That would be so cool. I'm paranoid that a drop of silicone lube might end up on one of my silicone toys so no longer use it.

One of my favourite lubes, Liquid Silk, has a tiny amount of silicone in it. I held off using it with silicone toys for ages but tried it a few times and washed it off later but none have suffered any ill effects.

This is going to be very interesting.

Okay, I've done the first application. 🙂 I've opted for 30 minutes exposure and then wash off with fairy liquid and warm water. I'll repeat that for 5 days, and then progress to 60 minutes exposure (+ fairy liquid clean up) for another 5 days. I'm not sure baby wipes will have enough oomph to clean off silicone lube, so that may be a non-starter, but I'll give it a bash anyway. 👍

The toy isn't new. It's been used quite a few times, but not excessively. It looks like the day we bought it though, so no visible wear and tear at all.

After this first time it looks fine. 👍 I'll check on it again tomorrow to see if there's any change.

Obviously I should also stress that even if mine turns out fine it isn't conclusive proof of anything. 🙂 Trying this yourselves is entirely at your own risk. 👍🙂🤞 The FAQs and product info specifically say not to use silicone lube with silicone toys.

Brilliant, thanks ![](upload://lJMrTcqgi5lI1FOpb07OYOcv2YF.gif)

Most of us know the lube rules here but it'll be nice to know it won't be the end of the world if there's an accidental spillage,

Talking of baby wipes - would they damage silicone? I only use them to polish stainless steel (but not dildos), but have heard conflicting advice about using them to wipe down (not sanitise) silicone toys. I'm not tempted in the slightest to wipe my toys down with them, I'm just being curious.

I wonder if you'd mind trying another little experiment for us (me)? I love the Desire and Bliss balms that contain natural oils but aren't compatible with condoms. Does this mean they'll also damage silicone? I honestly can't remember what I've read about them and am having a bad night tonight (tired/pain/brain fog). And it's just occured to me you may not even have any to test with!

Your valiant efforts are sure to earn you a place in heaven (or hell!). Thank you.

I've read that silicone can be used with silicone toys, but there are so many recipes for silicone lube and silicone toy skins that it's hard to give a blanket thumbs up. Pjur say theirs is safe:

Pjur FAQs:

Can pjur silicone-based products also be used with sex toys?

After conducting long-term tests, well-known toy manufacturers have confirmed that our silicone-based personal lubricants are suitable for use with their products. We are not aware of any cases where problems have occurred. pjur only uses extremely high-grade silicones that are also used, for example, in the cosmetics industry for the production of hair care and skincare products. However, to be sure, you can test our personal lubricants beforehand on a small area of your sex toy. pjur water-based personal lubricants are, of course, perfect for use with sex toys.

So that's why I thought I'd check it out. 🙂

We've used baby wipes from the get go and have seen no adverse effects. 👍

Oils do breakdown latex but are fine to use with silicone (like olive oil and a kitchen spatula, for instance), and the balms will be fine to use with sex toys. 🙂👍

I have both of the above and have used them in conjunction with silicone toys with no damaging effects. And that's even with leaving the toys to be washed for hours....there's no way on earth I'm getting out of bed to wash toys at night! They get put on the bedside cabinet till morning!
