I know MRS says she can feel and enjoy the changes in girth more sutbly.
Example: toys that change by .25" are "different" but length takes more to notice.
From a woman's point of view - I reckon all females would go with girth over length (that's what all my girlfriends say) - those that don't are probably liars. ha ha!
