Yeah waiting for sales is definetly a good trick. Being able to try a textured dildo is great though, getting to know if its something youāll like before spending Ā£x on one with all the frills. Lots of makers sell bare bones models too that are cheaper. Usually a uniform colour etc.

I know exactly what you mean about the price! Years ago, when we first dug deep to invest in the Vixen Mustang Tie Bright the price seemed weirdly, unjustifiably high compared to the other dongs out there. The awesome reviews, dual density and the amazing hand poured colours were the lure for usā¦ But the price! 
Recently though, Iāve developed a lot of respect for the far pricier, and way more ānicheā, platinum cured silicone toys, and would love to see more of these premium products on Lovehoney. As well as more beastly creations, of course!
A couple of brands weāve come across (Ha, ha! oops! no pun intended 
) are confident enough in their platinum cured silicone, their published care advice says theyāve had no reported problems with oils, silicones or hybrid lubes, aside from trickier cleaning requirements.
My wife and I also love that itās got actual precious metal in it too! 
(though the amountās probs tiny, it does affect the price)
Now weāve grown more confident in understanding what really works in terms of girth, flexibility, shape, and texture for Mrs K, spending that bit extra on the toys we think weāre gonna love is a bit less like high-stakes gambling!
Sure thereās huge differences in squishiness and a bit of āsuck it and seeā involved ( Oh crap, we are on a roll today!), but generally weāre getting better at judging if a particular dongās gonna be a challenge too far.
Loads of the more affordable toys are amazing (particularly for us where they have less ādragā) so trebling the cost doesnāt seem to add up to anywhere near three times the pleasure. We love being able to try loads of different ones. But weāre more happy these days to take a hit every now and then, and throw some cash at the chance for something a bit moreā¦ exotic?
