My new polish arrived, along with a little thing of oil i ordered (I’ve bought 1 that has a built in brush thing that i quite liked, so I’m going to see if i can dismantle it and refill it with normal oil after it’s empty)

Also, does anyone know any good nail strengthening stuff? Is the opi nail envy stuff any good? (i found some on ebay)

@Ace12345 I’ve tried the opi nail envy and it made my nails weaker rather then stronger and peeled more.

Multi vitamins that contain biotin is supposed to help but heard can take months to see any difference

My horse has a biotin supplement and it really strengthen and helps his hooves… perhaps I should start sharing his! :joy:

My new polishes arrived, i’m probably going to try them when i’m back at uni (like an idiot i forgot to bring my top coat stuff back with me) but i have no patience so may end up doing it without it. What colour do you think i should try 1st or do you think i should do all 5 at once to see how they look (as in a different polish on each digit)?

(i may have also gone through the polish i left at home because i couldn’t justify taking it to uni and i actually have a few pretty fancy ones there so am resisting the urge to take those all back to uni as well now)

My vote is mermaid fin… It looks so gorgeous  Depending on the consistency, sometimes with those types of colours I like to do a base coat of a pale colour to make them stand out more (but it may be all good just how it is!)

Ok i tried the mermaid fin and so far from what i can tell it’s a very subtle opalescent sheen so may work best as a top coat rather than on it’s own. I’m trying it with a white base coat currently, I’ll edit how it works once the white dries. Edit: ok with a white base coat it’s a very pale opalescent pink so pretty but not quite what I’m in the mood for

@MsSubExperimenter - Loving the Halloween nails! Giving me lots of inspiration for mine!! I think my fave is the orange ghost. They’re all so intricate and lovely though!

@For_Your_Eyes_Only_x - Looooove the collection! What’s that green essie one called? It’s a beaut colour!

@PleasureDrone - That colour is insane :heart_eyes: The shine and reflection is amazing.

@Ace12345 - The mermaid fin looks as though its a lovely pearly colour. If you find the white too much, then sometimes a base of one of the colours in the pearly colours goes well, so like a light purple may look good with it on top!

£3.99 from most branches of H+M - although I got mine when they were doing a 3 for 2 offer, so I bought purple, red and blue all from the same range. They’ve all got that same visual impact.

The only thing I don’t like about the H+M ones is the length of the brush you get: it only reaches about 2/3rds down the bottle even when the cap’s screwed on, AND the bottle is arch-shaped, so quite how you’re supposed to reach the last few ml beats me…

@Ace12345 - yeah, that looks like it’s got a lovely pearlescent thing going on. You gonna do the other fingers with it?

Not yet, I’ve actually put on a tester of the other colours once it’s approved. I’m going to wait until I’m back at uni though as most of my colours and stuff is still there, i think @SexInTheCity has a point about trying it over another colour (it is a very nice pearlescent sheen)

After a really crap weekend I treated myself to a gel nail starter kit online: the magic box which fixes everything in place, top coat, base coat, a remover and a couple of colours. All sorts of dungeon apparatus…
I could have got more colours for a bit more, but I wouldn’t use them all. This kit has a good pillarbox red and a deep rose pink, which are my favourites, and I can add purples and nudes and glitter etc from there.
I’ll be watching out for my postie, now!
I’ll post pics of the results (if they look ok :flushed:)

@MsSubExperimenter I love your Halloween nails, way beyond my level of expertise but inspirational. Particularly like the bats on the orange background - :bat: Spooktacular!

@PleasureDrone loving the metallic purple Good Times, brilliant sheen. I am very much liking the metallics at the moment. Might have just got a couple more

I wish I could donate my 4 spare OPI uv nail lamps to people here. When I used to do nails as well as hair, I would get sent new lamps with my orders of OPI gels from my wholesalers. As you can imagine, there is only so many ultraviolet lamps one girl can use so I have 4 just sat in boxes now in my loft :woman_facepalming:t3:

I also have several giant OPI display stands for gels and more samples than you could dream of

Cotton pads used with these work amazing too! Foil works but this is the way I’ve always done it

Oh what I’d give for some OPI samples. I love it so much, to expensive for me though at over £10 a bottle. Although maybe I should look else where.

I bet the lamps are amazing!
