Ah, been going to my practice for 46 years, they were NHS but went private about 10 years ago, i stayed because I trust them.

I have been going to mine since i was 14 so that is 52 years. They were NHS but changed to private over 20 years ago. It cost us £160 each for a check up and clean.

Wow! I pay roughly £50.
If my cats see them they hit them with their front paws. I am always finding dead ones. If i see them alive its normally a pint glass and a piece of card then out the back door.
Had my mother turn up this morning and accuse me of animal cruelty, just because my dog was still in his crate when she got here. That wasn’t my plan: I woke up at 8, felt anxious and listened to some meditation for a bit to try and.calm down, then passed out for another two full hours. Far from ideal but it happens!
She also said his walking harness was “too tight”, I did the two-finger test and it’s absolutely fine. He also shows no discomfort.
I am not cruel to my dog in any way: I use 100% positive reinforcement training, interactive (food dispensing) toys while I can’t be interacting with him, I try to make bath time as easy as I can for him and I buy him the toys (squeaky tennis balls) I know he loves. I use a crate with a cover to create a safe “den” for him as he is an anxious dog, and only shut him in at night to stop him beating up the robovac while it does its early morning rounds. My dog is not abused, quite the opposite - he’s spoilt, and lovingly so. He also doesn’t show any signs of being abused: if that dog could wear us as a second skin, he gladly would.
By contrast, my mother supports Cesar Milan’s techniques and alpha rolls dogs all the time, then blames the dog as being aggressive when she winds up bitten. I often turn down social events because I can’t afford a dogsitter, and I would be constantly worried about leaving him with her.
So our typical Tuesday morning catch-up instead resulted in her accusing me, me being upset in the kitchen and her realising she’d crossed a line and offering to go home. We both agreed it for the best and before she left she said “I do love you”. All I could say back was “I know.”

@teacake , @WillC , over here it is crazy expensive to have dental work done . The dentist I had for over 20 years retired . He was a Viet Nam Vet with PTSD , so he and I understood each other well . With my dental anxiety I HATE Novocain , he did 11 fillings without any . The only way dental is way less stressful is to have an oral surgeon knock me out , which jacks up the fees crazy . The average dentist makes more money than a DR . My teeth are terrible . I would imagine if I were rich I could have them all fixed for $40 to $50 thousand . Of course the stress on my heart might kill me outright . Only options are all teeth pulled and dentures or implants .

There are no dentists round where I live even taking NHS patients on and this has been the situation for years!
My previous dental surgery went private years ago and there’s no way I can afford to go private so as a result I no longer have a dentist.
If you’re lucky you might find one that will let you join the waiting list, which is what I’m looking into, but apparently those lists are years long!
I know someone who’s a pensioner and lucky enough to have a NHS dentist who recently had a crown replaced and it cost around £800.

Yes it’s very difficult to get an NHS dentist nowadays. All the private one’s at my practice only work a couple of days a week which gives some indication of how much they’re earning if they can afford to do that!
Put it this way, I avoid toffees/chews etc and don’t grind my molars when i’m stressed nowadays!

Same here no one is taking NHS patients I’m on the NHS list been on it for years, the truth is the only way people are going to get a nhs dentist is if someone dies or moves away. It’s shocking how it’s got so bad you can’t get a dentist.

Yes it’s totally shocking how bad things have got. On the rare occasions a NHS dentist announces they can take new patients they get swamped with people queuing down the street!

I can imagine that, probably people trying to get to the front. At least the government is actually trying to sort out this mess, It’s worth phoning up 111 and getting a emergency appointment probably in a local hospital, because now they are doing a one time treatment with private dentists.
You have to be referred from the emergency dentist though, So I assume it depends on the health of your teeth.

My NHS dentist (east Midlands here) is regularly taking on new patients.
Since we’re talking shift crowns/cap…… had my 1st one recently.
NHS metal crown would have been around £330.
I opted for a full ceramic at £850 since I have some insurance through work that could cover most of it.
On another note, dentists are evil.
Who in their right mind would choose a job where you spend your day down people’ gobs, inflicting pain to them all???

Absolutely fuming at myself.
Took a work vehicle to drop a very senior colleague off at Manchester Airport two days ago.
They’ve recently removed the barriers and made it pay online later. Of course I forgot to, just remembered and now can’t as it is too late.
Apparently the fine is £100, which is over 10% of my monthly net pay (I’m part time) Not a chance the employer will pay it for me. I accept it is totally my fault of course.
It is discounted to £60 if paid within 14 days of the notice, but of course I’ll never get it in time. The post room is part time, they only pass on letters with just the organisation’s name on to open (as on a V5) to a senior admin office that is staffed by different people each day, then it will sit in an in-tray for a week until they can be bothered.
Then vehicle records will be investigated to see who was driving that day, by someone with a 100 things to do.
I can see this escalating out of hand, blooming robbing barstewards and their ANPR, so will go in today and pre-empt them to look out for it, which of course they won’t.

It appears to me that governments around the globe figure citizens have too much money . The amount of money for everything just keeps rising due to added fees . What I really love is they pass a new law and keep it hush hush and people do not realize they are breaking a new rule and get fined stupid large amounts . Just paid our electric and natural gas bill . It has not been extra cold and as I mentioned earlier it is around $100 more than last year . With the raising cost of being alive , it is getting harder to afford sex toys .

Yes prices go up and the size/amount of products decreases so you’re paying more for less. With the huge leap in fuel prices due to Iraq the haulage costs will be transferred to the prices of products in stores, and the stores will be raising prices to cover their increased energy costs, it’s an endless spiral.
I put aside a set amount each month into a specific bank account just for energy, so in theory the spring/summer months offset the winter months, so the hit isn’t as noticeable.

Just saw a request for idea’s on a seaside resort page for cheap things to do cos the kids are bored and there’s no onsite entertainment during a school week and they’re their til Friday. Are parents today so lacking in imagination that having a huge beach that is perfect for paddling and making sandcastles with loads of rock pools to explore, a shallow, tide filled pool that you can swim in or sail toy boats on, a coastal path to the left with amazing scenery and nature to spot that they’re oblivious to it all? As a kid and as a 60+ adult I am never bored on holiday in the U.K.
