Really tight foreskin

Hi,

I am a long time lurker and have a bit of a weird first post!

I have a really tight foreskin. I only found out at about 20 that it was supposed to retract!!

It was fine for years when using condoms but since no longer using condoms it gets foreced back and really hurts.

Has anyone had any treatment for this?

Cheers

Hi Dave, welcome to the forums!

Is your problem a tight foreskin or is it actually a short frenulum? Both are different issues but can be treated in similar ways.

I had severe problems retracting my foreskin when erect due to a combination of both but the short frenulum was the biggest issue. Frenulum breve is a helpful term to google if your issue lies there.

Stretching the frenulum / foreskin has virtually eliminated the problem for me now, the two exercises that worked for me are:

1. Take hold of the end of your foreskin on opposite sides with a thumb and forefinger from each hand and gently pull upwards (hiding the head of your penis more) until you feel the foreskin stretching slightly. Hold as long as is comfortable then rest and repeat.

2. When fairly erect, retract your foreskin as much as possible (exposing the head of your penis) until you feel your frenulum / foreskin stretching slightly and hold it there for a while. Release, give yourself a quick rest and repeat as often as you like.

Tip: The bath is a great place to practice as the heat / water seems to make it easier and more effective.

Just remember that slight discomfort is good but serious pain means you have gone too far or been a bit rough.

Cheers reckon it is just a tight foreskin as it does go back when flacid but even that takes some effort!

Will try the excersises see if that helps. Its just anyoing as it often puts a stop to sex till I readjust!!

you need to clean it well and if it doesn't hurt try to moisturise it. the skin will become more flexible. i would see your gp though. its easily fixable but don't put it off. it gets harder to fix the longer you leave it. don't worry about getting your knob out for your doctor though, they're interested in your health not playing with it. they would also not be embarressed if you got an erection as they are touching your genitals. just don't do anything about it. put your hands behind your head or something ;) also my boyfriend had this same problem. you just have to be patient with fixing it but you wouldn't believe how much better sex feels once its sorted. its sort of like being almost blind and then seeing through glasses for the first time. you never knew the world looked like that before. you'll never see it the same way again though. hope this helps x

don't put anything scented on though. i did that to him and it stings ;) don't get any in the hole either, or close to it

Hi Dave,

The foreskin doesn't retract at birth, and it is not until you reach early adolesence that it gradually starts to retract. By adulthood it is normally fully retractable, but not always. It is one of those things that needs to be done gradually, and masturbation during adolesence usually does this for you, pulling it back a little bit further each time. As the foreskin seperates that little bit more it can be a bit painful and could be sore for a day or two afterwards, but it's generally nothing to be concerned about. As long as there are no associated medical problems there is no need to be concerned.

You may find the following information useful, particularly the section on "Management"

ok sounds like I just need to play with myself plenty! No problem with showing the doc if it comes to that.

Cheers everyone

i hope it doesn't but i'm glad you will go. good luck, have fun ;) "use a bit of lube. makes it easier, less rubbing." i didn't know how much my boyfriend knows about masturbation! dirty fecker ;) jess x

My boyfriend has this same problem, his is almost entirely closed with a very small hole just big enough to see half of his pee hole. He is in his 30s now. Everything works ok but he cannot retract his skin at all. Sometimes this causes him pain too during sex or what not.

He went to the doctors and they said he had these two options, cirumcision (Ouch) or they gave him a streroid cream and told him to apply it and stretch the skin a few times a day (Like Satoshi described). He did that for about a month and it made a small difference but his was severe and so he isnt even close to retracting (Plus I dont think he was as religious with the stretching as needed.)

Anyway just wanted to let you know that those were the options our doctor gave my guy. Your doctor will likely send you to a specialist to get the "options" and treatment, so be prepared for a bit of a wait, rather than a quick trip to the docs, although if yours is mild, maybe not.

I remember having a mate with tight forskin.

Thought it was strange at the time wonder if he did. Better not say anything else ill be explaining how i know this.

I have much the same problem, I just started a new thread about it… should have check forum more first hay lol.

My foreskin stays up over my penis when erect and I haven’t ever had it fully retracted. I can stretch the foreskin a bit to see the hole/slit in the end of my penis but never all the way. I still have great sex and it doesn’t hurt during intercourse so I guess I shouldn’t be too concerned

Wow, I thought I had it bad, I had NEVER been able to pull my foreskin back. From a young age maybe 8 or so, my dad used to tell me to make sure I pulled it back to wash underneath it and I never did.

It wasnt until I reached 17 that it started to budge, but even then it was like a burning sensation with the slightest movement. When I first had unprotected sex a few months before my 18th birthday, that was the first time it ever retracted completely, it was scary and painful. My foreskin was stuck retracted and I took it out of her, put it away and went out of the room to investigate, when I finally thought I had fixed it I found that the very tip of the foreskin had inverted and couldnt fix it. (Of course I did in the end)

Now (still having unprotected) I find that it is now easier, mainly because I use lube now but also I guess through practice. Saying that, the other day I tried to retract it and nearly died because it was so tight (think this is due to slight gains in girth)

I recommend maybe 3-4 times a week, lubing it up and slowly! attempting to retract it. If that doesnt work, definitely give your GP a visit

and if you see this elsewhere, I just copied and pasted my reply because it was exactly the same lol
