Cupid’s Smoothie

Forget length and girth - it’s all about the curve

I’ve always been a clitoral orgasm kind of girl, and my choices when buying sex toys have usually reflected that. Factor in the ongoing scientific debate as to whether or not the G-spot actually exists and you end up with one very cynical customer. However, scientists don’t know everything and I’m nothing if not adventurous so I decided to persevere and try some toys that boasted of G-spot stimulation.

I finally hit the jackpot when I bought the Cupid’s G-Spot Smoothie Vibrator. At £16.99 it wasn’t even the most expensive G-spot toy I’ve tried but it is worth every single penny and then some!

The vibrations are fantastic and there are four settings: low-power constant; high-power constant; pattern one, which is dot-dot-dash (all on high speed); pattern two, which is quick high-speed pulse (or dot-dot-dot-dot-dot etc); and pattern three is my favourite, purely because I think it sound a bit like the old Space Invaders arcade game, and it goes (low-speed) dash, (high-speed) dot over and over again. The vibrations are very powerful, especially considering the toy only runs off a couple of AAA batteries, but that’s part of the reason I prefer plastic to silicone: none of the vibrations are absorbed by the material of the vibe itself. The G-Spot Smoothie Vibrator is soft-touch plastic in a pretty purple/pale pink combo so it still looks and feels very appealing. I find plastic toys easier to clean (and keep clean - no bits of lint!) and of course it gives you a wider choice when choosing your lube - and to get the most out of this vibe I would recommend using a good lube!

The G-Spot Smoothie vibe might seem a bit odd looking to anyone more used to a basic phallic shape in vibrator design, but the real secret to this toy’s success is a very simple: its shape. Forget length and girth; it’s all about the curve and approaching that elusive S-spot from the right angle! As you slide in the lubed up G-Spot Smoothie, you will find that it settles into place easily and all you have to do is find the setting that works for you. There’s no awkward poking and prodding to find the right spot (or at least there wasn’t for me) and it’s cleverly tapered shape not only helps you find the right position, but it is unobtrusive enough for you to focus on the two areas being stimulated: you’re now handily located G-spot… AND your clitoris!

Wait, did I not mention that? Yup, the G-Spot Smoothie not only helps you find your g-spot in seconds, it also delivers all those deliciously powerful vibrations straight to your clit! Seriously, if this thing could make tea and mow the lawn my other half could be completely redundant! Actually my husband is a pretty big fan of the G-Spot Smoothie too because it is perfect for vaginal use during anal sex. It’s shape holds it in place and the vibrations are strong enough to transmit through my body to his, which means we both have a super-intense experience!

But as much as I love using the G-Spot Smoothie during anal sex, I like it best when I use it alone or my husband uses it on me. Once it’s lubed up and inside me it is probably the only toy where you literally cannot go wrong, and I squirted for the first time when I was pleading with my husband to be rougher and push it in harder.

The only thing that is a bit inconvenient about the G-Spot Smoothie is that it is by no means a quiet vibrator. Its loud buzz is softened when it’s inserted - muffled by your muff, if you like - but with vibrations that are this powerful, it’s no surprise that they are a bit noisy.

If I was only allowed to use one toy for the rest of my life, the G-Spot Smoothie Vibrator would be the one I would choose: it stimulates both G-spot and clit, is powerful enough to use just for external stimulation, and it is great for couples who like anal to use together for an extra buzz.

Why are you still reading this review? Go buy one!

Overall Rating: 10 out of 10 stars

Pros: Made it so easy to find my g-spot every single time!

Cons: It is rather noisy.

Bottom Line: My desert island vibe! Would never be without it!

Leaf Life

Leaf Life

Powerful, pretty and pleasing to hold

Firstly I need to say that the Leaf Life is a thing of beauty. Really, it’s a work of art. It’s small but it is perfect to hold, encouraging your fingers to curl lightly around its curves in a way that feels natural and in itself satisfying. The green silicone is so fresh and wholesome that (and I’m willing to admit that this may have been a figment of my imagination) it seemed to be imbued with the crisp scent of forest foliage after a summer rain…

It’s easy to get carried away singing the praises of this little technological wonder. It’s pretty in a very design-savvy, earth-mother way, with its beautifully presented (and recyclable) packaging and the natural canvas drawstring bag to store the toy and its charger. The toy itself is covered in seamless silicone which means it is hygienic and waterproof, and both the control button and the LED are integrated in such a way that they don’t interfere with the smooth, natural lines of the toy.

The fact that the Leaf Life is rechargeable means that this toy is genuinely environmentally friendly, and it’s ready to go after a three hour charge the first time out of the box. The controls are intuitive and easy to get the hang of – press once to switch on, hold it down to increase the vibration, and press again to switch it off. It is also possible to “lock” the toy whilst not in use by pressing the button three times in rapid succession. This can take a little more practice to get the hang of but the LED does flash to let you know when you have managed to lock or unlock it successfully.

It should be obvious by now that I was in love with this product from the start. When I first switched it on and felt the range and intensity of the vibrations it could provide, my hopes were raised even higher. It is a powerful little vibe, and its unusual shape allows you a fair amount of experimentation with how you transfer the vibrations to your most sensitive areas: there are smooth curves, wider surfaces for maximum contact between you and the toy, and a tapered end terminating in a rounded tip for a more precise concentration of sensation.

On the lower speeds the noise levels are quite discreet (as in easy to muffle beneath a duvet!) but, as with most toys, the higher speeds get progressively louder. That said, it’s unlikely to wake anyone up or make the neighbour’s dog bark!

So, to recap: this toy is pretty to look at, nice to hold, environmentally friendly, waterproof, very powerful, and versatile… but it’s not for me.

The obvious drawback is the high price tag, but this toy is very well made and I’d argue that you are getting the high quality that you are paying for.

So what’s the problem then?

In a word: me. The Leaf Life is a fantastic little toy but I have recently come to the conclusion that silicone toys just don’t rock my world the way that rigid plastic ones do. Maybe it’s because my very first vibe was a plastic one not a silicone one and that’s just what I’ve grown used to, but whatever the reason it was my mistake to order a luxury silicone covered vibe. The Leaf Life got me close, but even with practice it couldn’t make me come.

I’m sorry Leaf Life, but it’s not you, it’s me.

I know that there are women out there that you will make scream and moan with ecstasy, but sadly I must tell you that I am not one of them.

You are too good for me.

You can do better.

You are a class act, whereas I am just a cheap slut for plastic.

I will remember our time together fondly, but we just can’t give each other what we need.

Goodbye.

Overall Rating: 9 out of 10 stars

Pros: Beautiful design and very easy to use controls. The lock a brilliant feature.

Cons: Just didn’t get on with the silicone finish.

Bottom Line: Excellent investment in a powerful vibe for those who enjoy the feeling of silicone.

Groovy Chick

Not groovy, baby, just awkward

I’ll be blunt: this is not going to be a positive review. In fact the Vibrating Groovy Chick G-Spot and Clitoral Vibrator is the first product from Lovehoney that I’ve ever even considered returning.

  • What makes it so bad?

Well, firstly there’s the silicone the toy is made off: it’s much more rigid than I was expecting. Don’t get me wrong, it is flexible, but it’s not really flexible enough to mould to my body.

  • But surely that rigidity transmits the vibrations from the powerful bullet through to your clit and G-spot?

No, sadly it does not. The vibrations were pretty weak and not nearly enough to get me off.

  • Okay, but even without the vibration it must have hit your G-spot!

Not really. To be honest I began to doubt I even HAD a G-spot after using this! It only provided an awkward, random poking sensation that felt more like an exceptionally poorly executed gynaecological exam than anything that would lead to an orgasm.

  • Woah there, negative Nelly! Everyone else who reviewed this bad boy loved it!

Maybe so, but I REALLY didn’t get on with this toy at all. It felt awkward and unnatural and it didn’t live up to my expectations as a toy I could use solo or during penetrative sex with my other half. The Vibrating Groovy Chick G-Spot and Clitoral Vibrator looked to me to be a budget version of the We-Vibe concept, but whilst the concept may be similar, the quality just isn’t there in the Vibrating Groovy Chick G-Spot and Clitoral Vibrator.

  • Wasn’t there anything you liked about this product? Did you really give it a fair chance?

Yes, I tried to use it on more than one occasion but my experience never improved. I loved that it was purple though, and that Lovehoney will exchange it for a better product!

Overall Rating: 1 out of 10 stars

Pros: The colour. Every toy should have a purple option.

Cons: Pretty much everything.

Bottom Line: As ergonomic as a sack full coat-hangers and equally stimulating.
