I’ve been going through the Lovehoney Guide section and having a look at what sort of structure that one has (to see what we’d need to create), and what ‘flavour’ of guides they have. These are all the pages I could find, but some were more hidden than others. I’ve wrangled them into some groupings (though follow the link to see them in their natural order) so we can use it as a rough template to base our own on. :+1:

So, what do we like/not like about this simplified version of theirs? What would we want ours to say? What other information can we add to make ours special? And so on, and so forth. :slightly_smiling_face::+1:

No it’s all there was just a bit eager and saw the first 2 categories. How about a section for forum favourites?

I thought we could get away without having to do/re-do any Top10 ones, as we could link to a rolling Top5 topic like Top 5 Bullets instead.

Toys get discontinued or upgraded all the time, so I thought a dynamic topic like that might suit us better?

There’s no suction toy guide, and no HowTo: Good Battery Care.

Maybe a Stronic one? But that might be a bit specialist at this stage. :slightly_smiling_face:

It might be worth steering clear of product photos too, as they’d be a bugger to update if things got updated/discontinued.

You could probably go on forever with different guides I suppose its how in depth your willing to go

That’s it. Start with the core ones. Sort of imagine, ‘What would you have liked to have known when you first starting ordering?’ (or when you ordered a new type of thing for the first time)

And how about the existing guides? Are they detailed enough/contain the details that are important to you? I think if we skipped the product recommendations in the core pages, and just stuck with advice, then we could fit more into the same space.

Obviously these are open questions to everyone :slightly_smiling_face:

I didn’t realise there was so much out there on the Lovehoney site!
Some of it is familiar but people would have to go looking - this is much easier to navigate.

Is the idea to have it all in one place on the forum?

I like the idea of linking to a changeable ‘Top 5’ in key categories.
Is this where the forum community comes in? Or are you thinking that we could all add our bit to the ‘How To’ Guides (which may be subject to copyright), or that we could add links e.g we could link ‘How to have sex in the shower’ with a rolling Top 5 Shower toys?

Apparently one of the features of being a TL3 is being able to create a ‘wiki’ post, which means that any TL1 member can edit it. :+1: I haven’t seen it in person yet, nor do I know if Brenna will let us have it :slightly_smiling_face:, but if it’s like what I think it is (ie. A Wikipedia style page), then I thought this would be a good use for it. :+1::slightly_smiling_face:

I think I could still link a community guide section up using just the existing forum features available to me, so we could do this either way. :+1: (start a topic on a particular section, collaborate in the comments, edit the OP as you go, and then done. Copy&paste it into a shiny new ‘Guide: xxxx’ topic)

I’m using the LH guides just as a loose template. I’m hoping we can get as much stuff of our own in as possible. We may end up saying similar things, but I believe saying it in a community-led guide would give the same thing more authenticity. (is that the right word?)

How about polls? So instead of scrolling through checking everyone’s Fave. Checking who likes which one more do a poll and people choose as many or as little as they like

I think with polls you’ll get a lot of old information building up of people’s preferences from years ago (all being well :slightly_smiling_face:). And there’s the 5 minute edit window, so you can’t add in new toys later either.

With a rolling topic of Top5 you can jump to the end and work backwards, getting the most up to date info there is, with any toy the member thinks fits the category included. :+1:

Brenna has suggested we do polls to work out some relative values (like strength, frequency, and noise) for comparison tables. They’d be in there. :+1:

Makes sense to start on Plan B if we are not clear if Plan A will be possible.
Do Lovehoney mind their stuff being used? I guess, as it’s the forum, it is still ‘in-house’?

I’m not sure what you mean? I’m hoping people will go seek out other guides and do a bit of research too, but I’m afraid the only ones I can link to are the LH ones.

This is more to sort out the structure of what we’re trying to create, to help provide it with shape and a backbone. The Guide pages themselves will be created by you guys. :+1:

Also think it is a good idea for current forum members to be able to link to a rolling ‘top 5’ - I’ve just had a look at some of the static ‘top 10’ pages - they do go out of date quite quickly. Looking at the Lingerie for different body types, I’m sure forum members would create a more helpful and current list.
