📰 Sex Toy Testers - Who wants to talk about their experience?

Very happy to help.

1. How long have you been doing this?

I can’t quite remember and my review saving was not up to the standard it is now when I started. I have a tester review still live for the FSOG Relentless Egg which was reviewed in 2014 so at least a decade.

2. How did you get this job?

By writing informative and, hopefully, helpful reviews for potential purchasers of products myself or my OH had purchased and then putting myself forward for testers. I started when Cazz was running the tester program and then took a break for a number of years from both reviewing and the forum generally (though not shopping!) for personal reasons. When I came back, I wrote a number of reviews for products I’d bought in the meantime before putting myself forward for testing again. When I did, I was very fortunate to be chosen quite quickly by Brenna to rejoin the testing program.

3. What do you like most about your job?

Like most is tricky as there are multiple things that I really like. The first is testing toys still in the development stage as I feel like my feedback actually has, at least a small impact, on how the final product will look or work. Secondly, I love that sometimes, particularly for lingerie, I get selected for things that I might not buy for myself, and often, it turns out I love them. I went through a stage a year or so back, where I was making purchases I found I really didn’t like much and Brenna was sending me stuff I loved. I said to a friend, she was better at picking stuff for me than I was! Finally, obviously, it’s always great getting freebies!

4. Is there anything you don’t like about your job as a tester?

Two things, firstly, if it’s a prototype toy and it turns out you really like it, it’s sad when it has to be sent back . Secondly, with truly amazing pre launch products, if they’re then not released for months it’s really hard because I’m desperate to tell everyone about them and can’t!!!

5. How do you give feedback and opinions about the product once you have tested it?

Either by writing a review on the website for already live products or via an email link for pre launch products.

In my reviews I try to include everything that I would want to know as a potential purchaser that is not already obvious from the product page. Toys - how does the material feel, how flexible is it, how buzzy/rumbly are the vibes, did I find any techniques worked well using it, did I have any issues that made using it tricky, etc. I try to include personal experience, good or bad, without pornagraphic detail (for example, my review of the Jitterbug). Lingerie - most importantly, my sizing, the size I recieved and how well it fitted. I think with lingerie this is the most important thing to include (for example, my review of the Fierce Romance Body). I think with lingerie especially, if packaging is particularly special, I mention it as that’s important if being bought as a gift. Both with couples toys and lingerie, if it’s relevant, I like to include my OH’s opinion.

The most important thing with testing, I believe, is to be honest. If you don’t like a product say so and explain why, as was the case with both examples above. Don’t give it a 5* Wow review if you don’t like it in the hope of recieving more stuff. I believe an honest review is much more helpful to potential purchasers and LH respect this.

6. When there is another person involved for testing, do you let them know it’s a test, how do they react?

Usually yes, my OH knows I test for LH and is generally very happy to oblige with any testing. There have been a couple of items I’ve had to sign NDAs for, that include not telling him! That’s a bit weird.
