UK Government considering "opt-in" plan for Internet pornography

The idea is a good one, but the implementation of it will be poor, just like many other things.

There'll always be sites blocked that shouldn't be, sites that should that aren't.

Its a good idea however flawed. I have a feeling "Three" have already started implementing something like this. Sometimes I'll connect and find Lovehoney blocked and get redirected to a "Three" branded page with a number to call them to ask for adult sites to be allowed.

Kids will find ways to access porn, and no amount of blocking main sites will work.

it seems like quite an extreme measure. As a daily user of internet porn i would obviously have it switched on

I always find the priorities of censors curious. Anything relating to sex - the act that creates life always seems to exercise their minds far more than violence - acts that degrade and extinguish life. Perhaps I would have more faith in this initiative if there was some suggestion that they had this balance better sorted. However, this looks like it has its roots in the Mary Whitehouse end of the Conservative party.

We used to access, bebo etc at school by proxy websites, I even turned my home computer to host my own VIP proxy website!! so I could use my home computer to bridge the connections! yes It was username and password protected too! my mates at school like really much! but so the IT techs filter it, I have a dyamic IP so blocking the IP fail, and I would change hosting folders so I work around the block again!

And I have hacked over 10 user accounts on the school system! I still to this day have two of them at Staff level access!! and staff level you could use monitoring software to spy on anyones computer and lock the screen, the keyboard or even take control over their computer!

I even got caught using many of the users accounts! yes the techs block my student account, so I used staffs ones I've hack! there were two stuff account for the PCSO that were based at my school, but I heck them both. but others got caught for using them!

even one tech asked me what account I am using, I told him NOFU, I even had to show him the username because he took offence of it!!!

Yes at college I was a fool to open a link on msn!! and took me to a pornsite! and got caught!! It was only minor porn the tits and bum etc was covered in bubble bath so you couldn't see!

And my tutor wasn't happy he obtained my web logs that record all websites I went on... green is fine, orange is minor, but red was bad stuff.

there was lots of orange and red on my logs, the logs in fact the scroll bar was that small it took the tutor 8 times to try and grab the very small scroll bar because of the 1000's of website I used!

yes I did get a final warning, and the slight abit of trouble I be kicked out of college, But my computer was never blocked! I was not even bothered thats why nothing happend! I remember one people got caught and got a verbal warning and then sent home for the day!!

it all boils down to how well a computer user can use a computer, and how to the security is! even filters can stop porn! as at college with an msn link! I should been protected.... if you have good IT skills you will be defeat the system! even if Msn was ban, we used a link in the service pack files hidden on the C drive.. or override software polices!

Also O2 have also started implementing something like it too. My partner got diverted to a O2 page after trying to access LH, which asked him to pay £1 on a valid debit or credit card to prove he was over 18 years old, he didn't have his wallet at the time and used my card (which I thought they would only accept a card to the registerd owner of the phone) and they didn't ask any questions, speak to him, or do any security checks. It really was simple and if some providers do it this way I can imagine kids could quite easily get hold of parents cards and use them to get access.

I had this with vodaphone, But as I am CPSA Safety Officer, I e-mail cutomer service to remove the phone filters, to have access to website like cpsa, and other shooting websites! and than made them unlock it! but really used it for here :P

I am on t-mobile, proxy websites work!! but I don't what to buy things etc using proxysite to unknown people, just in case the are loggin my details!

yes I told them there was no t-mobile store were I am to, and I don't have credit cards.. so they unblocked it for me! it did help to register it first!

That's when I'd be asking them for my MAC code...

your MAC is found on the USB adaper itself, but if someone has removed it, open it up, and there a small white sticker on the board it can be found in windows networking sometimes some software can give the mac to you too!

Your IP for the broadband can vary! its cheaper for them to give a random IP to devices because they know not every one will be online at once! saves money! but you IP changes everytime you re-plug you adapter!

I would also say your website links are recorded to for 5 years! I do have software which I could spoof my MAC if I want! and spoof IP too!

If you plan to vist a website which don't mind using a proxy server I do it, I do afew times and make sure the last connecting one is in another country, and I personally know they delete event log etc and basicly use them as shields!

That would be a mac address alwayssingle, which is used to identify network interfaces.

A MAC code is what you use to move to a different ISP.

yes Mac codes are used to identify network interfaces.

ect Wifimax for the DS on my dongle is MAC:00E8E1A0547

and on my 3com adaper is MAC:0050DA91F63F1

every mac address is different just like a driving license number!!

so if you have a feeling of someone using your wifi if unsecure... you could go into the routers settings by typing in you default gateway address into you browser, and look at attached devices, if you have a computer or other device, you the copy its MAC address, then go into filters etc, and block that MAC then that device will unable to connect to you router job done! but the put a security key on it!. but even I have software to crack this but might take 2years!

alwayssingle, I think you may have the wrong end of the stick

I would be requesting my MAC code so I could move to a different ISP...

oh Migration Authorisation Code!! hahah! got now, used by ISP to every cutomers so they can move to another ISP without hassle?

I was on about Media Access Control address! yes this code are found on networking devices!

but what you on about was the Migration Authorisation Code! dooh! I see what the MAC to move ISP!!! easily confused over MAC!
