Hi there everyone,
Something quite worrying has come up, I bought a box of golden root recently (noticing lovehoney doesn't sell them anymore - good choice?) Anyway, my girlfriend is starting a career in medical research, and was curious about the contents of golden root... she emailed some of the UK distributors (Namely "Ultimate Promotions Limited" who seem to be big on this stuff), and got either stonewalled or abusive phonecalls from every company contacted. She was concerned about what I might have taken so contacted the MHRA Directly, here is the response:
Good afternoon *******
My name is *******, I am an Invetigating Officer for the MHRA, I am based at our York Office.
Your emails have been forwarded to myself as I currently have an ongoing investigation into the product Goldenroot.
Goldenroot is neither licensed nor registered as a Traditional Chinese Medicine, nor is it likley to be so.
It is an Exempt Herbal Remedy under Section 12(2) Medicines Act 1968, and should remain so until April 2011.
This exemption is based on the product being herbal, however we have now had cases of Goldenroot containing the active ingredient Sildenafil, which would obviously void its exemption.
What I have been able to do is identify retail suppliers, but wholesalers, buying the finished product from outside the UK are proving more elusive.
I have not heard of the distributors Ultimate Promotions Limited, but I shall contact them and identify their supplier.
I will also obtain a sample from them for analysis.
I hope this meets with your approval and I shall keep you updated.
Should you wish to discuss this matter further, my mobile number is *************.
Regards,

For those of you without medical knowledge, Sildenafil is the active ingredient in viagra. I remember this being on sale on lovehoney some time ago (I think I bought mine here, forget now...) so I just thought I should make you all aware.
Right, now I'll go and post an introduction over in the introductions forum :D
