So i got on very well with a small butt plug and quickly decided to order a medium....well i cannot believe the size difference 🙈 the medium seems very daunting now haha
It may take a while to get used to, however i need to work up the courage to use it now.

I don't think I you'll have too much trouble with your new plug. It's a great shape to make insertion easy. Make sure you use plenty of lube and most importantly.....relax xx
Yep - there sure is a difference there!
I personally prefer the more bulbous shorter plugs as girth is my preference over length, but then we are all different.
Anyway, when you do decide to give it a go, plenty of lube (which I am sure you know already), relax, make sure you are not going to be interrupted, and take it slowly.
Don't be disappointed if you don't manage it the first/second/third time. Frustration will not help you succeed - but perseverance will be so worth it!!

I find anything over 4 inches circumference too much hard work to insert and no amount of lube really helps x
Plus I dont really want to damage my muscles in that area so Im staying small for the time being!

I had the same issue initially; I bought Lovehoney's own brand small silicone butt plug and then another small metal one. I've used beads and small dildos so I thought I could handle a medium. Well I can, but it was longer and wider then I anticipated! So it felt very different. But you get used to it and then it's amazing!
Saying that, I can't see me upgrading to a large. I think I'll stay with what I've got!

Curiosity got the better of me though and I had to try it. Even though I tried to prepare with an in between size I ordered at the same time I didn't managed it the first time. The second time I did but was really too shocked to get much from it, third time was better but I won't be using it regularly for a while yet as it still takes a fair time, prep and to really want it. I have found if you have an orgasm or two first it's a little easier. I agree that I don't think I will be going any bigger and this will be saved for special solo sessions.

I have that plug and yes I would agree it does look a little on the large side however in use it has never been a problem.plenty of lube,take your time and relax.
In my (limitied) experience, what one company/brand describes as medium could be what another brand calls small or large. Reading the detailed description on sizes is essential. As others have said, the shape (and I think also the wieght and material) also makes a difference to what it should be classed as.

As far as progressing goes, I think you've made a great choice!
It can seem a little daunting at first but that's one of the best shaped ones going, the taper is nice and gentle and the material is very comfortable.
My partner loves the feel of the medium LH one as her first plug, just remember to use plenty of water based lube, go slowly and focus on relaxing! Most of all have fun ;)
I find the lube is so much more important than the size of the plug. I haven't found the traditional lubes work that well for me. I now only use hair conditioner, and wonder if anyone else has tried it. It seems to stay on the plugs and not get pushed off the surface, preventing that "drag". Also slightly perfumed. It really makes things so much easier, so for a beginner, may be worth trying?
OP whilst it may look big I'm sure you'll have no problems using it and will get used to its size quite quickly but the jump to large is far greater (but worth working up to over time!)
Using conditioner whilst it will work I would not use it long term, I've used all sorts from the kitchen cupboard and fruit bowl and used vaseline and baby oil gell without issue but now use general water based lube or anal specific.
