Just wanted to let you know that I also have this: http://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=16529 (KMD Longline Vargas Girdle) and it's absolutely fantastic. I should wear it more than I do. It does pull you in and gives a nicer shape to your figure - and it looks damn sexy. A bit of fiddling is needed just to make sure the central column is central, but it'll take two minutes top. It's comfortable. I could probably wear it all day, I can't remember if I actually have. I'm a bit wary about stuff like that because constriction around my stomach tends to make my nausea and dizziness worse, but unless you suffer similarly I can't see any problems. (Also: I bought it in XL, but I was probably* a size 18 at the time, and very paranoid about my figure.)

I actually didn't like it so much. It didn't work for me, personally. I struggled to get it on! Also, I think the other style girdles offer more support like the Lovehoney style one.
That was just my personal preference though. You may like it a whole lot better!

but I'm not sure about it...... it doesn't appear to be long enough for me and I certainly don't look like the model does. It feels a little tight too even thought it's my size. Not sure whether or not to keep looking. I'm not sure how tight its supposed to be although it did seem to make my tummy a little flatter. I want one for next week
My wife has a Cleopatra Capri suspender belt which she likes very much (as do I!) as it's both comfortable and pretty. You can see it on the manufacturer's website at:

This is a wide belt with 6 straps and metal clips, which is a big advantage in terms of stability. My wife regularly wears this suspender belt out-and-about, and she's never felt any concern that her stockings are insecure.
From the packaging, the belt is available in black, white, bronze and red, and its "large" size covers a range of 32" to 38". I'm not quite sure how this corresponds to dress sizes, though. Is that a possibility?

I would say the large size Capri suspender belt covers the range 14-18, give or take. It has four rows of triple hook and eye fastenings, so it will give a comfortable fit. The material is also quite stretchy. And the ribbons don't get in the way when you clip your stockings. I would highly recommend this suspender belt.
