Hobbies and Stress relief

So other than 'behind the bedroom door' activities, what else do y'all get up to relieve yourself of stress... What hobbies and things do you enjoy doing in your spare time? Are you a gamer? Arts and Crafts? If so, what is it, and why do you you find it, well what ever you find it :D

I'm a bit of a crafter, currently on a bit of a cross-stitch kick. I like things which keep my hands busy otherwise I have a tendency to fidget.

I have loads of hobbies...I do try and fit them all in, but having lots usually means some get neglected. I like to game, I play board games too with friends (usually like warhammer related ones, and horror ones) I draw...a lot. Usually tattoo designs, manga and fantasy stuff. I write poetry (for personal reasons) . I make synthetic dreads, taught myself needle craft, and used to make jewellery though gave that up as I sucked!!

But my biggest hobby is entering competitions!!! Now for those who watch Corrie...I'm NOT like Mary and Norris!! Im far too cool ;) But I enter a lot...regularly, and have been very lucky!

I read history books, play pool drink beer and race Karts, at home i love gardening and DIY

I enjoy being a member of a group who shares a passion about the things I care about. So I socialise with that group and that is relaxing. I enjoy exploring cultures and visiting cities, going to events in the city - there's always something to enjoy in Liverpool! If I'm not out and about or working, I can usually be found reading.

Ha! They have two great clubs (I'll let the LFC supporters note that the second is Liverpool reserves, I'm not saying anything :P) and there is a lot of sport in the city which is great. I think Liverpool is underrated - so much to do, some beautiful buildings and so many free events organised!

Both my nieces studied at Liverpool Uni they loved the place

My main hobby that I use as stress relief & a distraction when I'm feeling down or whatever, is going to the gym. I sometimes have to really force myself to go but once I'm there I absolutely love it & the feeling of satisfied I get afterwards is great.

I also like to sing, I always have done & am planning on joining a local choir to do more of it. Singing in my living room with my cat is all well & good but it'll be nice to be infront of an audience again.

I think the most important thing about a hobby is that is has to really capture your attention & keep your mind occupied. Which is great if you're going through a tough time & need to avoid thinking about certain things.

Me and my friends use to be really into warhammer, for some reason since the group hasn't been into it much its been hard to continue playing, so I've just been putting together / painting new models over and over again :D Nothing beats writing poetry though to be honest, a great emotion release and such... I've got a few notebooks full of the poetry I've written :)

My other hobbies include online gaming, slightly nerdy but who cares ;D I'm a bit of a performer too, I love to be on stage, singing, acting, and dancing (sometimes :p) However I haven't had much a chance to get on stage since I've finished my A levels in Performing Arts, so I've got too much creative energy to spare, and I'm not sure where to put it.

:)

I always found painting and converting the models to be the best part anyway!!! Go through so much dettol because Im constantly changing my colour scheme!

Yeah I was in a bad place, and poetry helped me voice my feelings privately. I read some old stuff a while back and was like WOAH...morbid slighty?!

Awww I'd love to do performing arts. Ive always been told Ive got a good voce, and my drama teacher used to say I was a natural performer. My cousin does theatre, and has just come back from Stratford doing Romeo and Juliet, and has said I should sign up for auditions :S I need to work on my confidence a bit though, as depression ate away at it ;(

But you should get back on stage soon! I bet its so liberating!!! :D

My biggest hobbies are PC gaming, online RPing and reading. Shopping too but that's less fun when I have to watch the money. I also write when I can summon the energy for it. I love spending time with my cats . I also sporadically attempt random artistic stuff like t-shirt design and recently clay. I started doing Wii exercises again recently but that's not much fun in the current heat...

Tell me about it, but I never knew what would work to get the paint off the models without melting the models, so i end up buying new ones :O So, dettol works? :)

I get exactly what you mean, some of the poems I've wrote and read now, I just am speechless at how I was feeling then... But reading / writing them now gets me through the lesser stuff, which is good :)

You should take the leap, find somewhere local that does some kind of singing group, or as ya cousin said, sign up for auditions, you may be surprised at your ability :) A few successes will help your confidence for sure, thats the main reason I performed, was a confidence issue I think... Though I was a wreck when I had song solo's as I preffered acting to singing and dancing... Sorry to hear that, but you'll get confident again (Thats what I tell myself) Helps me to take a step in the right direction :)

You got that right! :) But its finding a way to get back on stage that is the problem, I'm not confident in my ability to get auditions and call backs and stuff :S

I like reading and also got into working out, but my body is feeling the strain haha! I would love to start going to a book club at some point!

Yeah....soak them in dettol over night (may take longer if youre a bit heavy handed with the paint...Ill ask my ex, as he said youre not supposed to leave them soaking for longer then a cerrtain time as it can warp the models) then rinse under water with a soft cloth. Works brilliantly! Means you can buy peoples prepainted models on ebay for cheap, strip them and start again!

Well Luckily where I live, we have a theatre that does a lot of productions, so I MAY join up. Think Ill wait and see if they do one that catches my eye, and if they do, I'll take it a sign to give it a go ;) lol

I guess if you don't at least go for it, youre never going to get a call back! I remember watching the Glee auditions (yes,,,I like glee :P) and the girl who plays Rachel messed up and threw a little hissy fit. The producers were like...yeah thats a total Rachel thing to do, and hired her!

Hope you do get back on stage though!!! x

Yeah I thought I would give white spirit ago over night one time... Lets just say it was like it was a model made of blue tack ^.^

You should :) You're lucky to have somewhere close that does that kind of thing... Closest thing to me a church pantomine ^.^

Thats very true! Hehe, don't worry i like a bit of glee myself :D I didn't know that, but one of the main things I worry about is that the performance industry is the only industry to legally be allowed to discriminate people, they can be as blunt as they want, "You're too fat" You're too skinny" Blah Blah and so on, and many people in the industry do have confidence issues :/

Thanks :) So do I!! :) xo

I'm a salsa dancer...stress? what stress?? A track or two of bachata and I'm made up for the week!

i cross stitch, and have tried hardanger and regular embroidery (want to do and laern more about them, funds permitting) I tend to stitch for family and friends, mainly cards as no one i know uses or wants soft furnishings or pictures. i try to design patterns for cross stitch too, its very similar to pixel art apparently.

i also game, xbox 360, wii and ds/3ds. i play all sorts but mainly love bigger games like the zelda series and point and clicks like layton. currently playing the sims on my tablet, kid icarus on the handheld and will find a wii game when i get back. i have red dead redemption to try and la noire to play for the 360
