Is Porn Good or Bad?

Hi everybody I would just like to here peoples opinions on this topic.
Due to the recent things that are in the news i was wondering if people would tell me what their thoguhts are on pornography.

My view is;

I think that it's good to help people explore in relationships, but i also think it is bad that kids can get hold of it so easily.
I belive that because of porn both men and woman have higher expectations regarding, looks, size etc.

Do you agree or disagree, what are your views?

x

I think porn can be a good thing. Especially when couples watch it together. Plus, it's great for ideas for on your own of with someone.
Yeah, it needs to be harder to get a hold of though.
It never made me have higher expectations though.

Careful how you're wording things here though. Sexual happiness starts at 18 here, it's against the rules to talk about sexual events below that age.

Like most things, Porn can be a good thing or a bad thing. I can see both sides ot the arguement.

It can help people explore their sexuality, trying new ideas or getting tips and just be a great thing to use when in need of an orgasm and stimulation, but in the same breath, porn is just entertainment and unfortunately some people have to rely on it for sex education, which can leave them with a very skewed opinion on sex and pleasure.

Some people use porn recreationally and enjoy it for the entertainment it provides, while others feel that they have become addicted to the point that it is affecting their sex lifes and relationships, even the ability to get erections or achieve orgasm with a partner.

Some porn stars slate the industry after leaving, stating that bounderies do not exist and they are forced into doing things they do not want and that drugs are rife, while others speak about how they love their work and tell a much more positive story.

This is the thing...its all about perception. What do you perceive things to be. Some will have bad experiences and some will have amazing experiences, either within the industry or as consumers.

Thank you for both your opnions :)

Yes I can see both sides also, and yes it seems to be a very odd subject I have heard many different things about.

Thankyou both for your opinion :)

I have to say, i agree that it helps people explore and get ideas about what they would like to do and that sex is a very healthy part of life.

But i also have to say i think that porn poisions mens minds ! They have a perception on girls by watching porn on how they should be, look like and act.

For example : I range in clothing from a size 8-12 (i have wide hips and i have a bra size of 30DD and i find it so easy to be unhappy with how i look. There are so many bad role models in this life i.e. celebrities - on being a size 0 including porn stars having fake boobs (which some men love). If i feel this way towards fake boobs on porn, then do men think this with the size of their cock ? So if a man is reading this - please let me know ?

I also agree that it is too easy for littlens to get onto the site just by clicking 'ENTER' . Children are having sex younger and younger and i believe porn plays a big part on this.

I don't often (if ever) watch porn because of my views on men treating women like sh*it as a consequence of watching it. Sometimes, it is nice occasionally to have nice and caring sex. I'm not sure if i'm the only one who thinks this. I have alot of male friends who just see sex as sex and thats it, no respect and i believe its down to this !
Although don't get me wrong, i am partial to a bit of bondage and rough sex ![](upload://rA41UoqYzU9yrgGiJUyzuRc98GV.gif)

Good discussion topic- Thanks ! WIll be intriguing to see what other people say and think and if they agree !![](upload://ez5kOkpKXRZOxjavAURYmQxVTau.gif)

Ahhh porn sex!

My ex was very big on porn sex. Each session went something like this:

A quick fiddle to ensure I was wet followed by up to an hour of hard, fast penetration in a variety of positions as he threw me about the bed. Usually always doggy...but at one point he even started doing a typical porn position where the man lifts the womans leg so the camera can see in between them! lol. Sometimes there was hair pulling. There wasnt any eye contact, soft touches, loving words (only filth) or tenderness. Then he would cum (Either inside or wanting the "facial" or "bum or boob" shot and we were done. He thought he was "the man" because he could go for ages.

I ended up sore and bored rigid. He never made me orgasm in the short, 6 months I knew him., but I am pretty sure that before we met, he was a big consumer of porn as I swear down he was reinacting the scenes I see in porn over and over.

The one time I tried to slow it down and be tender, he couldn't get hard. Instead he just said something along the lines of "Okay enough teasing" and proceeded to bang me in his usual way.

It definitely does have an affect on some men. I think maybe younger ones are more at risk. I also think they are the minority though, because for the most part, guys do want to please us (they just assume that this is what we want..some of us might!) but when I teach partners how I like to be pleasured, they are happy to oblige and are usually aroused from that.

My ex was bad enough without porn thank god he never bothered, but porn I feel sorry for younger ones over 18 but mind warped by it, women made to feel rubbish because they are not a certain standard, if couples want to explore ive no problems, can't see the attraction myself.

Enjoy it if you want but realise that it's not real at the end of the day!! x

Good in moderation, otherwise you get bored of it. I have so much now that I don't really know what to watch anymore! I do find it has made me want to explore other areas that I hadn't otherwise heard of which is a positive in my opinion.

As for minors accessing the sites, I believe there should be more education around restrictions and monitoring of web activities for parents. I had access to it when I was younger with no restrictions but we're talking 56k dialup days, so my time was limited to 20 minutes and gave me the pleasure of viewing around 2 images by the time they downloaded. With wireless and mobile networks at blistering download speeds in every room these days, parents need to be a little more cautious.

Does porn include still images?

Does it include the less abusive, perhaps even straying into stylish and maybe even arty?

Porn is like a milshake, you can get them anywhere but some are more to your taste than others and some are really bad for you. ;)

Have to agree with Fluffbags again as with most things there is good and bad. If used correctly by adults then fine.

Porn is very much an unregulated industry and as a result it attract dodgy people and unethical practices.

On the point of perceptions yes it definitely skews people's opinions of average which is probably one of the more notable effects on minors. Remember porn isn't new and there are people like me who have grown up with the porn industry around them.

If I had the time back I would still watch all the porn I did again, why not I haven't raped anyone and I don't smuggle women into the country to train up as porn stars. I've had plenty of good moments with porn and nobody has come to harm over them. As far as getting me off goes I have a fetish that does it for me much better than porn does although this fetish largely works in the same way as porn.

As far as a debate goes the only good argument against it I've heard of is the size perception. Most other arguments have the same drawbacks as violent video game arguments. There are people who will reenact what they see, but those people would have had other issues too. As far as correlation goes I don't see a rapid rise in sex offences directly linked to porn has it has become more popular.

Indeed and it is not just men who suffer from body image issues from watching porn. (More women have cosmetic surgery to their vaginas etc)

I agree that porn has always been around, but not in the sheer volume, or ease of access, or as explicit and hardcore as it is today. This is a relatively new thing, the internet porn streaming. 20 to 30 years ago it was more likely to get a VHS or buy a porn mag. So it could be said that we don't really KNOW yet if society is changing from the sheer mass of porn consumed and if it has, is it directly related or, like you mention, is it down to other factors instead/too.

There have been a few studies done to show porn can be a real addiction. Also articles here and there showing it does cause men to objectify woman, or develop issues with ED, PE or simply not getting enough stimulus from sex with a partner because nothing is as "intense" for them as porn is. There are men also coming out and admitting this or seeking help for it. This could be considered a good arguement against it, but there is no evidence of how prolific it is.

Also, from doing some Googling, it would seem the crime rates for sexual offenses are sky rocketing in the last twenty years, while a lot of other forms of crime dropped:

http://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2014/apr/24/crime-rate-england-wales-falls-lowest-level-33-years

This article states a 35% increase in sex crimes in last 20 years:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-25858421

(There is no statistics to show how many offences were directly caused by porn.)

There is a fascinating Ted Talks on Youtube, by a guy where he talks about why he stopped watching porn (Anti porn talk) if anyone is interested.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gRJ_QfP2mhU

And another Ted talks surrounding porn from a womans point of view, sleeping with men who watch a lot of porn:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hm7cVImCJ6U

They make some great arguments against porn. (Or lack of proper sex ed)

This is one issue that I see on a day to day basis, I have a lot of friends who are female that say that their boyfriends have asked them to get boob jobs, and they get rather hurt over the matter. As for men with the size of the penis yes, I do feel that way sometimes. The issue is then that some may become paranoid, I myself no longer watch porn unless with my partner. She again aslo feels the same way.

I think porn is good and bad, good in the fact that it can help you and a partner explore and help you to educate youself a little bit. But bad in a sense that you may try to bring it into reality a little too much. It also removes the real values of what some men and women expect of apperance.

I think there is a major difference in 'just sex' and 'actual sex'. There is a mind set to adventurous sex, and if you both don't have it at the time, the passionate sex is the best.
But then that is another debate in itself.

But do women look at male models and expect this of men also?

I must say it is nice to see so many views :)

I hate it because the women are all long legs, thin, perfect boobs (albeit fake) and perfect bottoms, long hair, they do everything that I can't do! It makes me feel inadequate physically and sexually.

Love the begining of your comment ;D

Yes this is the problem most people I speak to have, It can make not just women but men also feel less about themselves. There is no sense of natural beauty in porn. Unless its the more artistic phtography, but that is a completely different story.
