Now be clear my LH peeps, I'm not shooting at anyone here but I have posted on a couple of porn related posts here in last few months referencing porn in different ways. I wanted to pose the question about porn's real merit and whether people felt it was cool. I have watched hours and hours of the stuff in my lifetime but have read some truley terrible stats and true life stories about the industry. I wonder, does anyone else have a moral/spiritual perspective on what they think about porn... Both pro and con???
I don't think watching it is wrong, and would never judge anyone for it, but I do think there is a lot wrong with the industry, and I avoid it myself.
I've got plenty of porn on my hard drive most of which caters to my fetish and no anti porn campaigner is going to make me delete it and I'll keep adding more to my collection. Adults make choices and make money.
I'm not a supporter of people who run black market porn or people abusing others. People who end up thinking that 9 inches is average, will have to deal with their issues themselves.
I can see no problem in Adult porn as long as you take as it is. I have watched lots of the stuff over the years with and with out the OH and it has done us no harm.
Its personal choice if you watch or not.
Some can be so choreagraphed, very sleazey and so made up it makes you laugh. Its amazing what a camera lens can do to size of objects!!
Amateur porn is relatively harmless, it shows real couples having real loving sex, and that is a healthy thing to see.
Staged/acted porn though, i think can be damaging. It shows such a fake version of sex, with fake moans from the second someone is first touched, bigger than average penises, fake boobs, overly made up "stars" that makesex look so glamorous. On top of that i have seen very little where they show safe sex, even during anal scenes i rarely see a condom. Most of the women are bald in their pubic region, and are all too willing to be degraded. Being called bitch, slut etc, and with no asking just forcefully putting her in a different position, or pushing her down to come on her face etc. Fetish porn i think needs to be more strictly regulated, especially the stuff that shows extreme bondage or "rape" storylines. Softcore is more harmless and less explicit, and oki could livwe with that being unregulated, but the hardcore/fetish stuff, it shouldn't be accessible to under 18's. Unfortunately it is down to parents to set parental controls, and so many just don't, plus so many new sites pop up every day it's impossible to block them all. I don't actually think there should be "rape" porn made at all, rape is as illegal as sex with a child, it is banned to make films with actors under 18, or who look under 18, because it simulates sex with an underaged person, so rape porn should be banned for the same reason, the act being illegal. Too many people forget this is the first taste most teenagers get of sex, especially boys. They go through puberty, get curious and watch porn, and then have very unrealistic expectations about how sex should be, how a woman should look and act, and how big they "should" be.
It can cause self esteem issues, and i personally don't agree with watching porn when in a relationship as that is my own morality, that the only person i want to look at is my partner, and i want to be the only person he is looking at in a sexual way.

Movies that are made to either be, or show, loving consentual sex are usually tollerable in small doses.
Anything abusive, whether staged or not, is wrong. People who think making love involves getting the camera angle right is missing the point.
I agree with most of the comments on this thread but the thing in staged porn that really turns me off is the constant slapping of tits and faces, does envy one else agree that this really can't be enjoyable for the woman involved.

I just can't understand a: who thought it will appeal to the audiance and b: who actually does this in real life.
I understand what you guys are saying- but surely it's each to their own? There are a lot of fetishes and desires out there that don't appeal to everyone, but that's just the way it is- and so the porn industry caters for them to make money.
I'm not condoning mistreatment or abuse of people, but if it's consensual and legal then I don't really see the problem- even if I'm not into certain things, I'm sure some people are, so it's really down to supply and demand.

Really glad to read the comments in response to this thread and couldn't agree more with most of them. I have never understood abusive porn scenes. Although I do understand there will be people out there who harbour some form of fantasy at that level it seems such a worrying trend that things like slapping, name calling, general degration and sadly even rape scenes are becoming more and more mainstream.
From what I have learnt of the industry, while no doubt there are adults who truley enjoy making porn, it seems the reality is they are few between and there are whole hosts of women who come from abusive backgrounds. That really makes me sad, a whole life based on being used and then a life of being "willingly" abused on camera for the world to see :-(
I think sometimes it's too easy to apply "consenting adults" to situations and when you think about people's backgrounds and why they may have made the decisions they have the word "consenting" loses its application.
For a long time I didn't feel that watching porn was actually supporting the industry (used free sites as my rationale), but the truth is that was just appeasing my conscience and any form of traffic to these sites is contributing to the huge demand wave that exists in the modern world; and as we know where there is demand...
I think amateur porn is the closest I personally can get to being cool about the whole gig these days... But even then I wonder whether both adults are actually consenting to have the material shared online and you read of "revenge" porn sharing so often now.
Ultimately I can't lie... Although I don't watch it anymore there are times when there is huge temptation and attraction. I guess there is stuff that you just can't unsee. Overall, for me personally there is just too many things to worry about with the industry to want it to be part of my life.

Nothing wrong with (permission) pinning a woman down and holding her throat tight, squeezing her thigh and thrusting deep and hard untill she moans uncontrollably. I just dont want to see that kind of thing in EVERY porno.
I don't think there's anything wrong with it but there are problems with the industry and it doesn't work for some people. But a lot of things have those problems and I also think porn helps some relationships. Yes it gives youngsters the wrong idea about sex but so do a lot of things., at the end of the day it's down to the parents to teach them. Porn is like any genre of film, made to make an impact, not portray reality.
people can get addicted to anything, anything can destroy a relationship and there are loads of bad influences to children, at least porn isn't forced down anyone's throat on the TV and radio

If someone wants to be a porn star that's their choice, I wouldn't want my kid to do it but it's no one's right to judge them really, made your bed you lie in it.
But I don't see why some fetishes are being attacked. I have a rape fetish and like being degraded by my OH and I enjoy that sort of porn. I also enjoy lesbian porn. People don't agree with that either.
Porn is porn, it's not real, if a kid is believing it, that's down to the parents, if a 12 year old kid thinks a demon will possess them is that due to the the film or the parents?
I hate this culture that blames everything else for problems when it's not their responsibility, people need to learn to look after themselves and teach their kids rather expecting society to do it then being surprised when the kids have a distorted view of life.
I don't see anything wrong with porn films but having said that I do think there should be limits on how far these actors and actresses are allowed to go and the things that they depict.
