Keeping it up

Basically, as the title suggests , I’m having trouble maintaining an election.
I’m nearly 60 , and I’m guessing it my be age related .
I usually wake hard , but it subsides after a few minutes , and that’s usually the last I see of it until the following day.
If we have sex , I get hard when the foreplay begins, but then it subsides.
Worse of all , I go soft when I’m inside .
My wife is beginning to wonder if I don’t find her sexy anymore, and I’m sure it’s making her sex drive lessen .
I can’t take a "Blue pill " because of prescribed medication.
I’m wondering about creams . Has anyone tried them , and are they any good ?
Thanksfor any help or advice everyone

Hello.
I have never tried the creams but have read some good things about them, it might be placebo but some people have said it improves the erection, weather they help maintain an erection I am not sure.
Cock rings are good for erections as they restrict the blood flow, which means a person can maintain an erection for longer periods.
I would suggest a Penis pump as they are good for getting erections, but you have already mentioned the issue is maintaining an erection.
There are many reasons for ED so the question I would ask is, have you spoken to a GP? He/She should be able to give you lots of advice regarding ED such as life style changes, diet ect.

Cock rings are great. Have had a few times myself with issues keeping it up at 34 because of my anxiety meds

There are a few online pharmacies that do self test kits to see what the cause of the ED might be if you don’t want to go and see a doctor (although id recommend your doctor as a better option as they will have your full medical history).

If you are in prescription medication, I would be a little cautious of using creams or anything that restricts the blood flow without checking if there could be any interactions (you may be able to get this info from the patient info sheet that comes with the meds). Although, obviously it greatly depends on what kind of medication you take.

That is a good point.

As many doctors are happy to tell us, your penis is a very good indicator (a yardstick, if you will) to our general health. Pretty much anything that is going wrong with us, the first symptom we’ll get is a loss of libido (and people wonder why it’s called a Dick…!).

Certainly, if it’s becoming a problem for you, a GP should be your first port of call, just to make sure your other vitals are normal (such as blood pressure and so forth). You mentioned that you’re pushing 60, so it might just be an age related thing, but best to be sure. Bear in mind, though, that “intimacy” doesn’t always mean intercourse; you can still have a fulfilling sex life by exploring other ways to be intimate. Or you could try utilizing a hollow sleeve that will keep things hard if you find yourself flagging more regularly? There are many options out there, so many more than there were 40-odd years ago, but definitely check with your GP to ensure there’s not something else going on that may impact your health more seriously later.

I’m no expert, but i’m sure if you see your doctor he may be able to prescribe something that wont conflict with your meds, or change your meds to something cpmpatible. I know us blokes are not good at seeing doctors, but trust me, that’s what they’re there for. I say this having had numerous embarrassing tests years ago. There’s really nothing to be embarrassed about.

Hi @Weeradge your story mirrows mine but may be with a few extras. I have the same problem , have meds which mean viagra etc cannot /will not be prescribed. I tried one cream and that had no effect. I have spoken to 2 doctors both did not offer any assistance. I also tried a penis pump, it was great until you removed it and instantly no erection. I’ve just come to the conclusion nothing can be done. I will be interesting in your replies though.

I had exact the same problem at around your age. I saw my GP and was diagnosed with a low testosterone level (a common complaint in older men). I was prescribed a testosterone replacement gel which has sorted the problem completely.
See your GP before trying any of the artificial methods.

I was prescribed sildenafil (generic viagra) by a GP a few years ago following a bereavement. I was in my early 30s and had no other health complaints.

Although it’s highly effective, it’s also highly addictive. Basically I’ve continued to use it ever since and have a repeat prescription for it. I’m trying to reduce my usage.

If you have any health complaints or are on any other meds please see a doctor because buying it online isn’t safe unless you understand the way it interacts with other meds. There are actually many other meds besides Viagra (it’s not just a one drug option).

Other things that helped me included speaking to my partner, using a cock ring and using a penis pump. I still get my strongest erections from using Sildenafil but am gradually seeing I get a natural morning erection when I haven’t taken it. Sleep, exercise and staying hydrated also help.

Basically - don’t just assume you have “one option”. It’s a case of trying what works for you. But do so with medical advice. As somebody else alluded blood testing for hormone levels amongst other checks is wise.

Creams can be hit and miss from what I’ve heard of them. Have you tried a cock ring before?
Or maybe look into the main cause of why your having troubles… is it stress related, health, diet?…
