Lingerie advice

Hi I am after some advice on lingerie for my wife, she is a dress size 16 with a mummy tummy what lingerie would suit her,I would love to see her in a basque or corset or maybe a nice chemise.is a basque suitable for her as she is body conscious.any advice or recommendations please.

I guess you can get her anything you like, there is a great range of sizes on LH.

I'm assume she would want her tummy made less obvious so go for something that would hide it.

Have you considered body stockings?

(no reviews on the plus size, but here is the other one)

As for corsets, keep in mind how you intend to use it. In bed, get a plastic ribbed one as they provide flexability, otherwise you can go for the steel ones as they offer more shape.

Here is one of my fave babydolls just to give you more ideas :)

I hope this helps :D

Hi dazzels yes she would want her tummy covered up as she hates it and is very body conscious it is a nightmare to buy her any lingerie that she likes I am not to sure on the body stockings but I like the corsets/bustiers but do I get the exact size or one up like I say she is a 16 but a large 16 if that makes sense.

Have you had a look at something like this - search: babydoll or chemise.

They all cover the stomach area but are still very flattering and show off other beautiful body parts e.g legs and cleavage.

We do stock a lot of lingerie in sizes bigger than 16, they will be in the plus size category - which you could also get something in the bigger size and then return it if it doesn't fit.

Hope this helps :)

It is such a minefield,I don't want to embarrass myself by getting it wrong.

No need to be embarrassed tbh. All LH items can be replaced by alternatives. Or returned for refunds. So you can try it out when it arrives and replace if necessary.

Yeah I have used the returns system before, trouble is she hasn't really worn any sexy lingerie before.

I would recommend babydolls, they're flattering to the tummy area as well as looking sexy. Probably a good choice if she's not used to wearing really revealing stuff .
Don't worry too much about getting it wrong , I'm sure she will be pleased that you've bought her something that you think she will look gorgeous in :)

I would back up the baby doll/chemise advise first and look at corsets later as she feels more confident in the lingerie. Your position is very similar to mine and the baby doll is as far as we go.

id say have a look with her, rather than looking on your own. as a woman who is very self concious of my figure, there is nothing worse than your partner buying you smething and it doesnt fit right because it adds to your insecuritys. im off to work so cant write an indepth reply. sorry to have a different opinion to everyone else x

I agree with Jenni about asking her to look with you so she's involved. Maybe say something like "I'd like you to feel as sexy as I know you are".

If a man says something like "I'd like to see you in this", then most women will hear "You don't like me naked." Especially if we don't like the way we look naked, which is most of us.

Some women definitely like basques for mummy tummy. Maybe get a basque and a baby doll to try out? One might suit her personality better and that's important too.

I would agree with jenni and rose hip ask her to have a look with you coz she might fell better to have a look with you as you can both have a say on what would like ok or not look ok

I agree with previous comments about choosing basques and stockings with the OH; it is part of the fun and builds the excitement. her comfort and the style of her choice are some of the most important considerations. just have your credit card ready when she decides.

Mrs. P. generally likes me buying her undies but sometimes she gets a bit edgy about it for reasons I'm not sure I can fully explain. However, one lady I used to date before I was married used to get me into the changing cubicle with her when we went to buy undies for her and that was both fun and informative. So that might be a possibility. Otherwise, check her bra size and have a peek to see if you think it's right - i.e. if the band looks too tight you might want to go up a size, say from 36 to 38 inches, or if her boobs spill out of the cups a bit you might need a bigger cup. There are plenty of online guides to show you how to tell if a bra fits and hopefully you do get a peek at your mrs. now and again!

The reasoning behind going for the bra size is that if you buy a basque it will generally be by bra size, and then if the body section doesn't fit over her tum you've obviously done your best. However, all the basques I've had have been really stretchy so it probably won't be an issue. If the one you want is by dress size, then you can check some labels in her dresses or tops to see how she goes there. Do have a rthink about the garments though as women often like to have things bigger or smaller than their actual size for whatever reason. Check several!

Mrs P. has a bit of a baby belly after two caesarians, but I'm always careful to include all her body in any petting that goes on. She reckons she's too flabby for thongs now, though she does have a couple that she occasionally wears. Logically, deep briefs would be good but in my experience women take one look at them and decide they're 'granny-wear', so you'd need to be careful if you think of going that way - retro styles might be worth a try if she likes that sort of thing; big knickers and bullet bras.

To be honest, I feel the same way (though I havent had kids or anything, just personal battles with contraception) but I do feel flabby for thongs at times. I usually get around this by buying french knickers or lady boxers. They fit nicely, feel comfy and my boyfriend likes the look of them.

But back to topic: Maybe just looking around with the wifey might be a good option? See what she likes the look of and maybe you can both come to an agreement as to what you both might like? Start slowly and work your way up?

Im struggling to find something that suits my huge boobs! Im not a small girl, 16-18, bust is 36 F.
I was after something like this but it no way near covered the boobs and looked silly :(

Well as an emerging vampette... But still with a few extra pounds to shift.... I have recently invested In. A babydoll and a load of sexy lacy knickers ranging from semi thong to French style, which are quite flattering and make your bum look fab, and as they are wide all around... They cover up a multitude of sins! Black is always classy. I would link them but bought them outside lh.
I will see if they have something similar here

This is a good version.... The one I got to jiggsh up my sexy underwear was a supermarket version that wasn't crotchless.... But I certainly find then comfortable and sexy

This thread is quite old now, but if your girl is of the larger variety or has the mummy tummy I would not get a standard corset/basque. They don't offer huge amounts of support and thin poor quality bones tend to bend out of shape. HOWEVER. if her tummy is extremely supple as some mum tums are, then you may find this is not an issue. Team the corset with a good girdle or wide garter belt (& suspenders =P) to hide that little puffy bit that may show underneath the corset.

I'm a size 20 with double mum-tum lol but I LOVE corsets. With a decent steel boned one (I opt for 20-26 bone minimum) I can achieve a 6-8inch waist drop, and as I have small breasts (D cup on a size 20 girl) they really help to move all my fat away and up for a great look =P

If I wasnt inclined to the goth/punk association of corsets however then Baby Doll is definitely the way forward for a girl with a few insecurities. Bodystockings too... they look like they're a bit strange, but once on, the netting really hides EVERYTHING. Couldn't even see my back rolls or Tiger Stripes (stretch marks) through mine and they cover my entire stomach!!
