I have talked about masturbating with my closest friends but I have never masturbated with them. If you are watching each other I would think that might mean you have a sexual connection with each other (rather than platonic) but I can also imagine that masturbating together where the focus is not on watching each other (and it is just something you both need to do) could very much be what close friends might do, just as long as the boundaries are clear!
