I have recently discovered I have PCOS and i've heard it can effect your sex drive. I have a very high sex drive at the moment still but I'm worried that might change.
I've also heard that having sex can actually help, as it promotes the right hormones.
Does anyone have any experience with either of these? x
i have PCOS myself .. and i have to say my sex drive has never been higher than it is now !!!!! i was diagnosed with it after having my child 7 years ago , and since then my drive has just upped an upped steadily .. so i cant speak for others , clearly , but for me .. its not had any negi effects at all :)
PCOS can increase and decrease your drive. You're on the increase end of the spectrum and thats totally fine. From here its working out what you can do to alleviate your symptoms (the hair, the heavy periods...)
Personally getting an IUS was the best thing I ever did. Its a coil that releases hormones, no periods, no babies, no hassle for 5 yrs, yay!!

My wife had PCOS for years and found that it was caused by insulin resistance. She took to a low-carb diet (nearly 15 years ago before it was fashionable) and that cleared up a lot of the symptoms. Might be worth looking into?
I don't think anything was mentioned at the time about sex drive though? I'm guessing it's to do with the levels of androgens?

Thanks, I did had a IUS fitted for about 5 days but I had a massive reaction to it so it had to come out. I'm now trying a low carb diet as I have been told to loose weight and so on.
To be honest I don't really understand it all yet, it all seems very confusing to me. But thank you for the help, it's nice to know i'm not alone :) x
i had a coil fitted but im not allowed hormones as im naturally overly hormonal anyway ( ie:nuts lol ) and was in agony for the few months it was in so had it removed . it didnt make any difference to any of my symptoms . im starting the low carb diet asap to try and quash the weight /hair issue .. fingers crossed it works for you badwolf .. let me know how you get on ?ive tried some of the medicines fo rthe hair but i just pluck daily now as they made me feel consitently nauseous x
I have this and tbh the majority of the time my sex drive is set to high with no limit!!
But then i can all of a sudden feel sick at the thought of sex and this can go on for as long as a month!
Everyone is effected by PCOS differently and no two women have EXACTLY the same symptoms - some can have one or two the same but then one may have one thing the other doesn't and vice versa and at different severities
I did the majority of my research on PCOS online as my doctor only discussed my obvious symptoms - once i did my research i found i have several over side effects i had no idea were linked to it!
There is also a lot of useful tips/info from suffers of said side effect on the web to help with managing the condition so i would personally recommend going online and looking up the syndrome in detail

I too have PCOS and it seems i am one of the lucky ones, i have a high sex drive! (yay!) i have noticed that when OH and i have sex for a few days after i am not so aware of the pain etc... not sure if it is linked or if it just in my mind!
My OH has PCOS and the only time we've had issues with sex life is when she was on hormone control pills and after that on the implant. She's not on anything at the moment and our sex life is amazing, even since we've had a baby.
On a side note keep your doctors in check about it, my OH's specialists have messed her about a lot, and have basically ignored her since our daughters birth
