Rant Thread - Get it all out here

The BBC do online education modules for children and a few years ago they told a supplier of a module on climate change who’d listed pros and cons of climate change around the world only to include the cons. How that is unbiased and balanced is beyond me.

Often it’s the information they omit that reveals their bias.

I see Trump is suing the BBC for a billion dollars, but as the BBC is a public funded organisation it’s the public that pays in the end. I will add for overseas members that by law we have to have a tv licence which funds the BBC, unless we don’t watch live tv on any channel or BBC i-player. A growing number of people are refusing to pay the licence, but do we really need the threat of prosecution?

If Royal Mail can’t find my address, what hope does any other delivery company have..

I honestly think they’ll be gone in the next decade. As there are better, more reliable couriers out there and the younger generations pay bills and communicate online and send digital birthday/Christmas greetings instead of cards.

You are right @WillC because even Evri and Amazon logistics can find my address but RM can’t. I waited in all day aswell (I even picked today for delivery as its a training day so I was free) and now my address is somehow inaccessible at 5pm on a Friday night :joy:

Awwww! So sad and feel so angry. My father in law passed away yesterday. We are just so filled with grief. I feel so angry, we weren’t ready. Such a hole to fill. Sorry for the downer post.

Sorry to hear that @JMS55 - Thinking of you and the family. I found the brew and a virtual hug thread really helped me :people_hugging:

So, am I the only one to be annoyed by the roofs and hoofs thing? It’s rooves and hooves. I could rant on about standards…..

I’ll add to that list: Someone doing 50 mph on the motorway and in the 2nd lane :face_with_peeking_eye: MOVE over before you cause a serious crash! (Today’s experience).

I know they just sit in the middle lane when there is nothing on inside lane, one of the things that hubby gets mad about.

Even more annoying at 3am when there’s not much other traffic.

It appears that the newer and or more expensive a car is , blinkers are not standard or too difficult to operate ? As a rider we really hate tinted windows . When over taking a car , you could watch the steering wheel to see if they were going to turn into you without a signal . So many cars side windows have a dark tint these days , we lost another safety riding tip .

Same over here, you can virtually guarantee BMW, Audi and Mercedes drivers won’t indicate or will drive aggressively without a thought for other road users. I can’t get my head around driving with tinted front side windows, are they ashamed to be seen driving it? Also coloured tints on the windscreen. It just looks awful and it can’t be safe.

Another annoyance is young males driving in hoodies with the hood up, so when they turn to look left or right at a junction half their vision is obscured by hood! It’s as if modern cars don’t have roofs or heaters! :face_with_symbols_on_mouth:

I will add…once saw a cabbage driving with iced up windscreen sticking his head out the side window to see.

Also saw another cabbage driving with red bulbs in his front fog lights. :face_with_symbols_on_mouth:

It’s madness isn’t it? Makes you wonder about some people!

I worked with law enforcement in the 80s and tinted windows were starting to become more prevalent . As an officer approaching a car with tinted windows , they did not know if a gun was pointed at them . Back when I was in high school in the 70s , they enforced many laws that are ignored now . they checked bumper height , tires could not be outside the fenders . I loved the yearly safety checks before you could renew your license plate tabs . A shop actually checked brakes , exhaust , all lights and adjusted headlights , windows . If you had jagged body damage they would not pass you . BTW , not all states were the same . Lifted four bye fours have there place for someone who actually needs a lifted truck , but 95% are just for show . Standard saying is to make up for tiny penis . Similar to expensive sports cars .

Anybody else sick and tired of dealing with businesses and general bill paying ? I rather long for the old days when I wrote checks and then had the cancelled check as proof of payment . If there was a problem you could go to the local office and get things straightened out in a few minutes . Now when you have an issue with a bill , first off you fight your way through their online crap , rarely solving the issue . BTW I hate the QR crap . Then if you have to move on to their call center , often manned from offshore where usually the person does not speak English . Sick of a thousand passwords . I have spent time over the last three days on over / extra charges . It is a sizable amount of money that may end up overdrawing our account . Have to wait several more hours to speak to a person , however their AI was quick and helpful . GRRRR

Definitely! I recently paid my 85 year old mum’s gas/electricity bill online, and it was a total ball ache. I know security checks are there for a reason, but having to ring her to tell her to send me a 4 digit code she will soon receive by text was excruciating.

Similarly I often have to ring tech support at work if anything electronic breaks down. They’re based in India with very strong accents and only the basics in English ( i understand that my accent is equally alien to them!) I am sure they read from cue cards and if your problem deviates from that you’re screwed. I also think they’re briefed to not send an engineer unless it’s absolutely necessary. I do all the due diligence before phoning, unplug the device and wait before plugging it in, taking pics of every reference number on the device etc. But they still put obstacles in the way! I once had one ask for the reference number on a cctv camera that was 30ft up in the air. I just replied “I don’t have a pair of binoculars on me, you’ll be asking for my inside leg measurement next, just send a technician, it’s definitely broken ” :face_with_symbols_on_mouth::face_with_symbols_on_mouth::face_with_symbols_on_mouth:

I realise me and you @Oldman are of a generation that weren’t raised on computers from birth, but companies nowadays really don’t want person to person contact unless absolutely necessary, so I share your pain!

I feel for you, I’m going through a heating problem myself it’s been over two weeks, they come out and say they have replaced something and it will work properly now, of course I have to phone them up again when it’s cold as the same problem is happening, but still have to go through the dam checks, then they say we will send another person out, nonono there is nothing wrong with my system it’s a external problem at their end. talk about banging head against a wall, my head is now deformed :face_with_head_bandage:
