Many vehicle bought as props are sometimes ex service vehicles , and that is why they tend to be a bit older. Others are resprayed civilian.

That's the problem with them .They are fine for dressing up but for role plays no .They are just too simplistic and unrealistic IMHO .

The building site worker is probably an easy one to cobble up. Just check out the safety wear section of the very large DIY stores .The Visii vests are quite cheap .You can probably get a hard hat here as well. The only other bit of specialist equipment is the tool belt which can normally be found in the tool section. These are handy for carrying toys during the role play. Everything else can be used from items already held at home.
For more realistic outfits ,sometimes mooching around Charity shops uncovers interesting things.Army surplus stores if you are lucky enough to have I need in your town. If you live in Manchester or a stone throw away ,then check out Aflecks Palace as it here are many stalls within it that do retro clothes.
I have many fancy dress costumes but I also prefer to buy genuine articles so its authentic.
Ive even ordered real surgeon scrubs from nhs suppliers, surprising what you can find from google lol

Been looking ar some navy officers jackets at Aflecks Palace yesterday. Very nice but couldn't find a size Small enough.
Also in the same place a His and her Gladiator costumes. Given me an idea of having a "fight" around the house with the loser becoming a slave for the evening. Very Roman !
