Trust Levels

I’m not too fussed with badge collecting but was bored and saw someone had posted with a link to a rival company (Jan Sommers) so thought I’d flag to see what happened.

There’s a Flagging posts? topic with a bit more info in if you’re interested? Out of curiosity, what did you flag the post as? (spam, inappropriate, etc?)

Think I put ‘other’ then ‘linked a rival’ in the comment box

Yeah, I think you needed to use any of the others to pop the Badge.

Got the ‘first flag’ badge :+1:t2:

Ah, no hidden screen for me.

It is counting each edit now though. Even the ones I made within the first 5 minute ninja edit. And there’s no grace 5 minutes for each edit after that either.

I flagged it myself and that seemed to tip it over. And I just got an automated message:

And my post is now behind a ‘click-to-see’ mask. There’s a link in there directing me to my inbox. Which is new… :slightly_smiling_face:

And it should now be visible again after I’ve edited it. :+1: We’ll have to get @Lovehoney_Brenna to check what it looks like from her special Mod page. :slightly_smiling_face:

Maybe it’s time to talk about TL3. :slightly_smiling_face:

Trust Level 3 — Regular

Regulars are the backbone of your community, the most active readers and reliable contributors over a period of months, even years. Because they’re always around, they can be further trusted to help tidy up and organize the community.

To get to trust level 3, in the last 100 days…

  • Must have visited at least 50% of days
  • Must have replied to at least 10 different non-PM topics
  • Of topics created in the last 100 days, must have viewed 25% (capped at 500)
  • Of posts created in the last 100 days, must have read 25% (capped at 20k)
  • Must have received 20 likes, and given 30 likes.*
  • Must not have received more than 5 spam or offensive flags (with unique posts and unique users for each, confirmed by a moderator)
  • Must not have been suspended or silenced

*These likes must be across a minimum number of different users (1/5 the number), across a minimum number of different days (1/4 the number). Likes cannot be from PMs.

All of the above criteria must be true to achieve trust level 3. Furthermore, unlike other trust levels, you can lose trust level 3 status. If you dip below these requirements in the last 100 days, you will be demoted back to Member. However, in order to avoid constant promotion/demotion situations, there is a 2-week grace period immediately after gaining Trust Level 3 during which you will not be demoted.

Users at trust level 3 can…

  • Recategorize and rename topics
  • Access a secure category only visible to users at trust level 3 and higher (Brenna said secrets are evil :unamused:)
  • Have all their links followed (we remove automatic nofollow) (I think this is to do with search engines, so not sure we care a huge amount?)
  • TL3 spam flags cast on TL0 user posts immediately hide the post
  • TL3 flags cast on TL0 user posts in sufficient diversity will auto-silence the user and hide all their posts
  • Make their own posts wiki (that is, editable by any TL1+ users)
  • Daily like limit increased by 2×

Admins can change these thresholds by searching for TL3 in site settings.

Things what I have seen with my eyes:

  • You get to add a ‘Regular’ title under your Username
  • You can turn your posts Wiki using the wrench icon :wrench: at the bottom of the post (with edit, flag, etc). This is possible for 30 days, and you can also turn it back off again
  • Change topic titles & recategorise

There does not appear to be a Lounge area.

I can’t see anything else, but I’ll add it here if I do. :+1:

Thanks for this info, starting to make more sense now :+1:

Is this why you’re going back liking older posts? I was just wondering as i got notifications about it a few times

I’ve been testing out my new Like limit. :slightly_smiling_face: You can change when you’re notified about Likes in your Preferences/Notifications page if you’re getting too many? :+1:

Notify when liked: Always/First time a post is liked and daily/First time a post is liked/Never

I flagged a post, well a profile pic, and didn’t get the badge. It’s like reliving cub scouts all over again.

I tried that knot last week Arkala! :weary:

For the Flag Badge you need to Flag a post (not a topic) as Off-Topic/Inappropriate/Spam. If you flagged a photo from any of the #your-photos topics it may not count as it’s a semi-private category visible to account holders only, which seems to make it ineligible for at least some Badges (nice reply, etc).

But you can Flag one of your own posts if you really want it? :slightly_smiling_face:

Thanks Ian. Will run that up the pole

Turns out the Title perk is not a TL3 thing after all. :slightly_smiling_face: It was only turned on for the TL3 Regular Badge, which is why no-one saw it until a few of us got it.

Brenna has now turned it on for Basic and Member too, if anyone fancies adding one to their profile? You can find it in your Preferences/Account page. :+1:

(I think the other Badges can display too if they’re turned on? Not sure if it’s worth it though until we get some good custom ones. :slightly_smiling_face:)

12 posts were merged into an existing topic: Forum Badges :badger:

Does anybody want a ‘well done, you’re TL3 Regular’ topic like the TL2 one?
