Edging is really something else. The difference between edging and a ruined orgasm is whether you orgasm/cum at all.
With edging you don’t do either, you just get close, or to “the edge”.
With a ruined orgasm you typically stop any touching or contact right before you’re about to, so that you do cum a little but nowhere near as powerfully or fully. So you do have an orgasm but it’s nowhere near as powerful as it could have been. It was “ruined”.
