Ask the Expert: All Things Lingerie

I was wondering, can anyone please confirm:

http://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=33938

The front crotch zipper, where does it open and to where, someone wrote that it is from the top pubic area all the way to the top of the bum. Does that mean that you get full acess to front and back or better go for something like this? http://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=36621

Hi Drei,

The bodysuit has a double-ended zip, and reaches all the way from the neck around to the butt. Because of this, you can unzip it all the way at the front and have it completely open from neck to bum, or you can unzip it from the back for a crotchless design. It's really up to you how much is exposed.

Thanks,

Sammi

Hi Sammi,

So let me confirm which one of these:)) because I am still a little confused, probably because of the product images not making it clear. The Cottelli website doesn't seem to have it on it either.

This is the product I am asking about:

http://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=33938

1) The Zipper is double ended, one end starts at the front below your stomack and the other end at the back top of your neck? This means the zippers would meet in the middle any place you want.

2) The Zipper is double ended, estentially 3 zippers, 1 from front stomach and 2nd from top bum, this means you can have it open front to back or back to front. 3rd zipper from neck to bum? There is a fabric barrier in the middle.

3) Going by the product images, zipper front to back (up to what point in the back? above the bum so you can have your bum out? Neck zipper from back of the neck to above bum not meeting the other zipper as there is a fabric barrier.

If we take this one: http://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=36621

Zipper start at the neck or the back which is great. The way you said it, it looks like you were explaining this one:)) not the full catsuit one.

Hi Drei,

Sorry, I thought you were asking about the bodysuit in your original question!

With the catsuit (this one http://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=33938) there is one one-way zip which starts below your belly button and unfastens down to underneath the crotch, meaning you can essentially make it crotchless, but it doesn't really expose much of the bum.

There's then a second zip from the back of the neck to the small of the back to help you with getting the catsuit on. These zips don't meet, so essentially, it's option 3 from your list.

If you're looking for something to more of the bottom, the bodysuit (http://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=36621) is a better option.

Thanks,

Sammi

Thank you, will go with the 2nd option:)

Forgott o ask, for UK size 10/12 which Cottelli is better? It seems the Lovehoney size is different than the Cottelli one. Small?

Hi Drei,

As bodysuits are quite form-fitting, for a 10/12 I'd advise that you go for a Medium rather than a Small.

Thanks!

Sammi

Hi Sammi,

I'm wondering if Lovehoney sells anything similar to shapewear, but that sits lower down the body? Something that would go under a backless dress. The closest I've found is the Seduce Me skirt (http://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=36241), but that seems to go all the way up to the belly button.

I wondered if you clarify the sizing on this please? http://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=37231

Are the bust measurements underbust maybe? It seems a little odd to have an extra large only go up to 36" overbust.

Hi captainmeow,

Thanks for your question. We don't sell any shapewear as such, and most of the lingerie that's similar to shapewear tends to be quite high-waisted. Can I ask how low the back of the dress goes, and what kind of thing you're after?

Thanks,

Sammi

Hi Friday13,

Thanks for your question. I've double-checked this with the supplier details and the size chart is correct according to them, but if you wanted to know more about the fit, there are some handy reviews on this bra that we have for sale from the same brand.

Thanks,

Sammi

Thanks Sammi. Unfortunately I had to return that bra because the sizing was awful for me. At least my wishlist is ever so slightly shorter 😂

The back of the dress goes down to about the level of the lowest rib at the front, if you trace that to the back. If that makes any sense, don't really know how best to describe it!

I'm looking for something that will smooth out the edges and curves under a form-fitting dress. I don't really need it to do what corsets do and redistribute fat, just don't want to see odd bumps where my legs meet my hips, for instance. I know I could probably just get spanx elsewhere, but I was wondering if it was possible to get something that also looks good when the dress comes off.

Hi Sammi. Have you any tips for guys who wear bras..I currently wear a 40 DD when dressing up, My man boobs give me some shape but would like to look more bustier. Can you recommend a bra in the Lovehoney range that would help to do that for me.?

Hi captainmeow,

The best thing that I could recommend would be some of the deeper lace shorts (such as the Flirty ones), as they create a smoother line across the hips than thongs or briefs, and will sit low enough down the waist that you won't see them under the dress.

Alternatively, for sexy-looking shapewear, I'd definitely recommend some of the vintage-style lingerie retailers like Kiss Me Deadly or What Katie Did.

Hopefully that's some help!

Thanks,

Sammi

Hi Richie1,

Thanks for your question. To get a bustier look, I'd definitely go for styles with additional padding that will help create a fuller-looking cleavage. With this in mind, I'd recommend our Seduce Me bra in the 1X/2X, as it comfortably fits a 40DD and is moulded and padded to give that rounded bust shape.

Hope that's some help!

i need some pointers on what might work well for my wife.

She's a UK size 14 mostly, with 36C-D boobs. She's really conscious of a podgy tummy after several pregnancies has slim hips shapely legs but the real difficulty is her rib cage. She's had her chest cavity opened up for suregery a few times, and that's meant that below the typical bra-line is perhaps wider than it would therwise be, so lingerie that might fit over her chest is then too narrow over the part between boobs and tummy. Is this making any sense?

TIA

Hi Wings,

Thanks for your question. It sounds like the best options for your wife would be some of the more unstructured lingerie, such as babydolls, which skim over the torso and tummy but show off her legs.

With regard to the underbust fit, choosing lingerie styles with sliders across the back or a tie-up underbust would be best, as it can be easily adjusted and is less restrictive than a hook-and-eye closure, or no closure at all. With this in mind, I've picked out a few styles which I think would work best:

http://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=37004 - features a ribbon-tie back
http://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=36686 - features a ribbon-tie back
http://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=36987 - only fitted across the shoulders

Hopefully that helps.

Thanks,

Sammi

Hi Sammi

The bra arrived today and fits absolutely perfectly. Padded bra's are the way to go for me, this definitely gives me the bustier effect I was looking for. xxxx
