Bra Fittings I'm confused!

Well i've been trying to find my size as im just about able to keep
them in at the mo lol. I've tried different websites with the measuring
calculator most of them give different results. So been thinking of
going to bon marche, only just found out they do bra fittings! so the
only place who does them in my town. But they do it the old fashioned
way by adding 4 of what i can see on their chart on their website.
so now i dunno what to do? if to stay by the old fashioned way or the
new one. As i measured my underbust as 30 so it brings me to 34 in the
old fashioned way and i already wear 34 band. but the middle is not flat
against my chest and ive always got a bad back which i suspect it maybe
my bras! Does the new fitting method apply to all new bras from all
shops? or just in the dearer posh shops likes m & s ? thank you

If you can get to a branch of Bravisimo I'd highly recommend it. They
generally tend not to use tape measures, they just ask you what size
you're wearing and then they look at the way it fits you such as how
tight or loose it is round the body and cups. Then they bring a selection
into the changing room for you to try,it can be a lengthy process trying
different sizes and styles until you find the ones that fit. I came
away with a bra that actually fitted me properly for the first time
ever! Previously I too had the middle of the bra sticking out away from
the middle of my chest and the back of the bra riding up,it turned out I
had a band size that was too big and a cup size that was way too small.
I don't want to rubbish m&s as a shop but their bra fitting service
is awful in my opinion. The woman who fitted me when I went there
clearly didn't have a clue....even I could tell the the bra she said was
perfect for me just plain didn't fit! I actually didn't know that bon
marche had a fitting service. I had to go on a 50 mile round trip to get
fitted before Bravisimo opened a shop in my town!

wildflower, yeah there is a bravismo in the city. just getting there it is.. me too ive heard about M & S being rubbish sizing. I've read that different shops give different results , which puts me off a bit. alicia4ever, all different websites say different things unforuntely. which has drove me insane ! lol i've tried a 34C which that still doesnt lie flat in the middle of my chest. and still got flabby (boobage?) bits under my arm pits above the bra band. I've read on a website that if you go up a cup size you go down a band size and vice versa 2 sites say i'm a 32F! well they dont even sell those sizes in asda lol.

Great advice here, I have the same problems. I'd just add that different
manufacturers make the fittings slightly different. It took me ages to
find a bra that works for me. And it was Bravissimo that got it right
for me. They are brilliant. They even managed to find a bra that was
non-wired and made of cotton. They're my everyday bras. And they found
me a sexy bra too. It can be a bit expensive, but once you have a make
and size that works, you can then buy that bra again on line. I'd
encourage you to bite the bullet. It will help your back, more than
likely. Good luck.

Yes they can be really expensive and I could only afford to buy one
and then once I knew the size and make I found some for sale online for
a fraction of the price. Finding a bra thats fits properly makes such a
difference . I looked slimmer and lifted even though my boobs are still
large and it felt so great not having to keep yanking it down at the
back and trying to rearrange myself to stay in the cups all day. It's
worth persevering to get the correct fitting.

I've only ever got correctly fitting bras from two places - Bravissimo (various branches) and Poinsettia in Glasgow. Everywhere else had my cup size too small and my band size too large.

And now, as my weight has been drifting down for some time now, my cup size is even larger (they haven't been shrinking, much to my husband's happiness, when the rest of me has).

Of course, you then have the issue that bras of notionally the same size are actually different sizes, so it is a nightmare (especially for internet or mail order). Even different bras from the same manufacturer can be different.

I find bra shopping to be a very frustrating experience.

My ex recommends m&s for bra fittings. Very good apparently.

thank you guys. I tried on a bigger cup size again a 34D seems to fit a lot better :)

The straps seem to dig into my shoulders a bit and leave a mark whichever the size is lol x

I have a nightmare with bras, too. I was fitted in Victoria Secret as a 32C but whenever I try on any bras this size it never fits me. I seem to range from 34C to 34B from what I can tell. I suppose it depends on the bra. My main method now is to just try these sizes on in the changing room and see what's good. I'll often go into one with about 6 bras and only end up finding a single bra that fits me properly. (if I'm lucky).

It depends where you shop for your bras. In debenhams Gorgeous range i am a 34E. In M&S i am a 34DD.

Ive found that M&S are hit or miss with fittings, first time they got it spot on & she took the time to explain what to look for/ how to fix the issue. The second time they kept trying to give me bras that made my boobs look like Madonna's pointy bra aha Another thing to consider is the style, I am different sizes dependant on the style of bra so balcony im a 36E but regular tshirt bras I need an F or I get the '4 boob look'. I have my go to shape/ style in m&s now that i can pick up of the rail & know it will fit without trying. Good luck x
