I was hoping for some advice. My partner likes using butt plugs but the ones we have (traight in shape rather than curved) seem to need to be held in in order to stay in place, which can be very frustrating.
Has anyone found that curved pspot ones are better for being hands free?

I agree with Brenna. For example, from this set https://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=37704 the two that are beaded will be harder to keep inside. The one in between them will be easier, and the easiest will be the plug on the far right - as shown in the first photo.
Just to tag on to this with someone who has a lot of experience in this area, I find that a plug stays in much better when there is a bigger different in the neck of the plug compared to the 'bulb'. The smoother the taper, the easier i find that it wants to come out.
I have found this one to be great, and i have never had any issues with it falling out.
Agree with all the above. Have a look at the metal plugs. They seem to have very narrow waists and I can vouch for the fact that they stay in place very well.
I'll add the shape straight or curved won't matter in terms of falling out its, as above the neck to stem difference and the slope angle, Fresh and Fun's is a perfect starter plug, I wouldn't go any smaller(often a classic mistake for people starting out, then they find it falls out whatever the shape) go for one a bit on the bigger side?

As a lot of others have said, give the metal plugs on the site a try. I have used 3 of them, and they all work really well. The bulb is bigger compared to the stem, and this REALLY helps with keeping them in. I dont reccommend "trainer" plugs as the stem IMO doesn't have as much of a size difference that you'd want.
