Favourite Lubes and 'Better Sex' Item and why?

I looked for a thread about this but it was closed so thought I'd start a new one.

So... I'd never used lube until last year (and I'm 52!!) - I was under the very wrong idea that my own lube was enough...whilst it obviously was adequate, I wish I'd know how much better lube makes things!

I'll be honest with you - we bought lube because me, being a' lady of a certain age', found I now need a bit of help in that department. We started with 'LoveHoney Enjoy' https://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=35808 which is great and very good value, it works well and the pump dispenser makes it easy to get out the bottle - no fiddling around with tiny (and often lost) caps. My only criticism is that it tends to dry out and needs reapplying too often which is a nuisance - especially during solo play.

We've tried a few more, but our favorite has now become 'LoveHoney Release' https://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=25006 I prefer the creamy texture, and the fact it lasts ages - over an hour for us so far and still not dried out! I just wish it came in bigger tubes!

I've read lots of posts recommending 'Sliquid' products.... can't seem to find an unflavoured/scented one...anyone? I tend to get irritation if I use any scented or flavored stuff down below...but strangely Balms seem ok.

Tried lots of Orgasm balms... and really like them all! My favorite is the 'Desire' balm https://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=37740 It's a little more expensive, but for me, worth it! Its long lasting, and quickly enhances play and gets me ready for sex. MrSpider also likes a tiny bit on his penis.

One thought... do you apply Balm or lube first?

The sliquid I use is this one, it's odourless and flavourless. I am very sensitive and haven't had a reaction.

I love balms and gels and have most of them for variety but I too tend to reach for the desire one often. I also like the fifty shades enhancer but if has mixed reviews with some getting reactions.

This swoon balm is one of my favourites for a nice menthol scent

https://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=25360

But I'm always stocked up on the Bliss balm when it's on offer for 'everyday' use.

I use balm first but I tend to mostly apply the lube to the toys, but then I'm impatient and not the best at prep!

Excellent thread! Due to the contraceptive pill I'm on, lube is pretty much essential now. It does make sex a hell of a lot more enjoyable. I bought this one on a whim because I needed a new one:

https://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=37218

I love it. Its long lasting, I don't react and isn't 'sticky' like some other lubes I've tried. I've never had a white lube before so it took me a while to get used to it.

Are the balms really worth it? I placed my order yesterday and was tempted by one then totally forgot to add it to my basket. Absolute numpty.

My partner enjoys the balms so I’d give them a go! What was included in your order?

Another vote for https://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=11375

I'm sensitive to anything down there, and this has always been great. We use it mostly for anal, and it is robust enough for anything we try to do.

Hello Lady Spider! Lube is so much fun!

https://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=15951 I reviewed it. It’s superb, bottle lasts ages no taste or smell and can be reactive with water , saliva etc. But it takes a while to dry and if your still self lubricating down below it won’t dry out as you’ll be reactivating it yourself. There are some thinner Sliquids but I think the gel is the best.

Sliquid lubes are crystal clear, non tacky, leave no residue, tried ID Glide, Pjur water based, Liquid Silk over the years but Sliquid has been the best plus it’s got less nasty chemicals in it and is suitable for Vegans etc...

As for balm, put that on first then just top up as required (hugs) hope this helps.

Not a lube (but I'm getting some great tips from you all!) But this is our favourite "better sex" item. As I said in my review, it can be used purely for relaxation or as a great way to initiate foreplay/sex. Plus I'm small with tiny hands and my husband is a big guy a nice massage takes alot less time now (although I'm yet to use it on him without more happening come to think of it)

We both used to use KY, mainly for anal, when we were married to our exes.

Our current favourite is this - https://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=24751 We discoverd it in France many years ago. Over there it's called "Lovely Long" but it's the same stuff as this and has the same colour and pattern on the tube. A litle goes a long way, and it's great for anal and vaginal. You can use it with condoms, so it's OK for swinging.

We have a few favourites;

Water-based lube: https://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=25239

It’s vegan, odourless, paraben/glycerin free and mimics natural lubrication.

Silicone-based lube: https://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=31587

Affordable, long-lasting, works great with metal and glass, can be used to tame frizzy hairs, soothe chafing and polish up latex too.

Balms: https://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=34567

I used to love the Pin Up Bombshell Balms but these seem to have been discontinued. This is the next best thing. Coco de Mer’s is nice too though.

You can use lube to style hair?

...I must try this.

Yes! I didn’t know it until around seven months ago but silicone lube has solved all of my problems with baby hairs and frizziness. You only need a small amount too.

Is silicone-based lubricant the only type that works? I only have water-based right now ![](upload://ceipqBTR0sMGMajGRWRbxCi6nYV.gif)

I haven’t tried it with anything else but I think it’s just silicone 🤔

Alright, good to know.

Thanks for the recommendations, Guys n Gals! Shall be trying them all!

I highly recommend the Sliquids organics range. I, like yourself, have very sensitive skin down there and I mean VERY sensitive. Having eczema and skin sensitivity means a lot of things that are listed as hypoallergenic etc still make me want to scream and yell burny burny burny from a lot of things.

This range however I have had absolutely no isues with, it's filled with loads of goodies and none of the baddies.

The two that have been my go to lubes for years are https://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=21186 for vaginal lube. The added sea extracts seem to help soothe my skin and my go to for anal is the gel one as it's slightly thicker https://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=15949

I have just bought https://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=25239 too to try as this can be used as a lube but also just to help with dryness down there. I am not going through the change yet but I do have medications that dry me out which I am sure you know all about that too.

I have found it doesn't irritate me in the slightest and is pretty long lasting as a lube, I've used it for about half an hour at a time so far and I haven't felt the need to reapply at all. I like the fact that if i'm feeling particularly dry at other times it can be used to mimic natural moisture too.

Also as a bonus I have had no adverse reactions to the flavoured ones either, though I haven't used them for as long or as often, they do have some rather nice different, unusual and tasty flavours. Unlike the durex flavoured ones which are just a no no no no and hell no for sensitive skin.

I haven't tried that many, but Swoon is my current go to
https://www.lovehoney.co.uk/brands/swoon/

I previously used whatever was cheap and easily available. So I've only tried about four different brands.

Don’t order the Sliquid yet Lady Spider...

Sliquid Organics Natural Gel is my personal favourite. Don't need much and it lasts for ages! I didn't really like their H20 or any of the flavoured ones though.

Another good one is the System JO H20 which lasts a very very long time. Flavoured, Lovehoney Cherry :)

Sliquid Organics Natural Gel lubricant - at the time there was a good deal on it. But due to rave reviews from U. S. bloggers I'm willing to try anything from Sliquid.

I insist on lube being free of glycerin (which narrows down the options quite a lot), parabens and everything I don't understand the name of.

(Btw, I got some lube containing glycerin as a freebie once - does anybody have an idea what to do with it? I've used a tiny bit to put rubber tubing on metal, but that was a one-time thing...)
