I tend to assume most of my friends will own at least one sex toy because we're a fairly liberated bunch and the subject will crop up in general conversation every now and then (like when my friend forgot to move her toybox and the decorator found it!). Also I have been known to leave gifts from 'The Wedding Night Fairy' in friends' bridal suites so, yeah, a lot of my friends probably have toys because I bought them!
A friend of mine recently got divorced and mentioned that most of her disposable income was going on Lovehoney purchases over the past few months. We've even been known to message each other porn site links, because we clearly have similar taste in such things - maybe that's why we're friends!
While we don't discuss intimate details of our sex lives (out of respect for partners) I would absolutely have no qualms recommending a particular toy if someone asked. However, I've never had a friend say "I got the most amazing dildo (or whatever) last week!" or "What's your favourite toy?", it's more general chat.
As sex is still very much a taboo subject especially when socialising ,then I think its something that will not be admitted to.
My friends are open minded like me, so we discuss sex a lot and sometimes toys. They all have toys as far as I know but not very many! Nowhere near as many as me, but I'm working on them... 😉
I know my closest friend has sex toys , we've known each other for so long there's literally nothing we can't talk about ...which is lovely .
I went to a party last night and I brought this subject up... I find it fascinating when some haven't even heard of certain sex toys... They know more now haha... I know my close friends have them as we chat about it often 🙌

I think everyone has them just keeps hush haha I'm pretty open about it with my mates but they get nervous talking about it. Seems lads are a little more scared to talk about it than females for some reason haha
The only way to get a handle on this is from the turnover of the major companies in the sex toy retail business. LH does about £60m/year and there are bigger players than that - though none better of course 8-)=. I reckon £200m/year would be a very conservative estimate of what we in the UK spend on sex toys.
Combine this fact with there being slightly less than 20million families in the UK and it looks like we spend on average over £10/household/year on sex toys. It might be way more than that as even high-street chemists sell vibrating cock-rings and the like.
I've had this discussion with my colleagues and from the way they all go on, I don't think any of them have toys. Couple of the ones I spoke with were adamant that no toys were needed in their lives, I said they haven't lived. But each to their own.
My two best friends definitely own sex toys as I've gifted them both some! They asked for some advice on using them later on so I know they tried them at least once. My other friend got me into sex toys, so I'd assume that most of my friend group has at least one toy each.

Violet I agree with you. Most of my friends (I don't have many close friends over here) don't even like to talk about that, but only if they knew what a sex toy can do for someone physical and mental well-being, I'm sure they'd change their minds.
After 5 years working here I'd be ashamed if 100% of my friends didn't own a sex toy by now!

I'm stunned by the amount of my friends that don't own any sex toys! Each to their own and all that of course but I thought most people did. I'm happy with mine and my husbands (rather large) collection
