Lingerie & washing

Hi everyone, just wondering if someone could help me please. How does everyone wash their corsets? After last nights play session my corset set needs to go in for a clean, however, I can't seem to find any wash label.
Am thinking it will probably be hand wash only and line dry?
Help!!!

Depends what stains are on it ! ! Lol

The easiest way to describe the stains are bodily fluids! Lol

I dry clean mine - I would be too scared to attempt to wash mine myself.... :)

Nice ! ! ! Must have been a good night ! !

If in doubt dry clean it.

But if you do wash it, then hand wash it cold, preferably with some salt. Not hot water as you'll set the proteins.

if it came from LH then you could ask with the customer service department on Teusday

are the bones in it plastic or metal? what material is it made out of? are there anything like sequins on it?

I echo the hand washing thing though, less risky way of cleaning it!

I'm glad you asked this, going to need to sort out and wash mine soon!

I dont get mine dry cleaned anymore. all of thier staff seem to be under 25 year old boys... last time i went i gave the lad at the counter 3 corsets. one had a smallish stain on it and he got his mate for a 2nd opinion. The 2nd lad wore a funny grin and they kept sniggering. then one of them goes whats the stain looks like it will be difficult to remove.... they just kept laughing and looking at each other and i was bored and busy so i just said well lads with underwear like that it's not likely to be custard is it i took them back and left.

since then i've hand washed in cold water with a little salt. rinse well and dry flat. they come out fine.

Hi M-J

had a nosey at your reviews to see what corset it was, if it is this http://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=16661 that needs cleaning the product page does say hand wash only, hope that helps :) xx

I never dry clean anything other than my partners suits. I hand wash with cold water and it always works

Hi everyone.
Thanks for replies, kasumi I never thought to check the LH page! I think I might try the hand wash option. It's this one

I've not yet got round to writing a review (its on my to do list!)

I'd say most things that say dry clean only can either go in a washing bag/net and go on a hand wash program in the machine, or if it's got boning and embelishments on it then as other's have said hand wash with salt.

my washing machine has a silk setting, my dry clean suits all go on that.

Ooh! Will have to have a look at the washing machine and check with customer care Tuesday as it has got plastic bones in it. I'd be gutted if I put it in and ruined it :(
Thanks everyone xx

What's the salt for that everyone is suggesting? :)

it helps soften the water, so is less damaging to delicate materials and helps promote the effectiveness of the detergent

Assuming you have hard water

If it was me I would contacted customer care hun. =) xx

Salt is also good at breaking down stains.

If it is dry clean only though do get it done at the shop. I once tried a cold hand wash on a dry clean item to then find the skirt shrunk and was an inch shorter than the lining.
