My poetry thread

ok so was told to keep all my poems to one thread which i am going to do in here hope you enjoy

"The Death of Rover" (an old poem i wrote when rover calapsed)

The day has dawned and Rovers dead

What shall the workers do instead

Shall they sit and mope and morn

Or shall they kick up a storm

What to do they do not know

They should have left 5 years ago

By now it would be sorted out

Instead of heads full of doubt

Of what they'll or where they'll be

Six months from now we'll have to see

My heart and thoughts go out to you

Lets hope the futures bright

Adue

'What did i see" (a very old poem i wrote after princess diana died)

who did i see out the corner of my eye
was it the ghost of our beloved princess di
with short golden hair
and sparkling blue eyes
and soft perfect skin
and a voice that changed lives.
her white silky gown that lit up the dark
and guided the way to heavans afar
her halo she bared she wore it so proud
and wings of white feathers much softer than clouds
so who did i see that passed by my eye
was it ghost of our beloved princess di

I know this is your poetry thread abacus and the above two are lovely..but can we contribute our favourite poems etc here? would be nice to have a poetry thread and yours are a great way to kick it off!

Haha cuz I like a couple of poems? :p the John Donne one is actually VERY romantic, its about him being seperated from his lover.

But the Seamus Heaney one is about a mother drowning her illegitimate baby and its very sad.
Oh which reminds me:

2pac - Under the Skies Above

My child is out there somewhere
under the skies above
waiting anxiously 4 u and me
2 bless it with our love
A part of me a part of u
and a part of this love we share
will protect my unborn child
who lives dormant out there somewhere
Sometimes in my dreams
I imagine what it would be like
How could I properly guide him
when even I don't know what's right
Whether he is born in wealth or poverty
there will be no dificiency in love
I welcome this gift of life

given from GOD under the skies above

I almost cried reading that the first time (for a good reason - at the start of my sons pregnancy we thought we'd lost him and I was absolutely devastated)
