We currently have a small faux leather paddle (and I mean small). Want to up grade to something a but better quality and need it to have a good slap/sting to it. I'm torn between these 2 :-

I also like the look of this but it does sound a bit brutal and I'm worried that hubby wouldn't want to hit me too hard with it and I do really love the pain caused by a paddle when it's used hard.

We've always preferred the rectangular paddles, as opposed to the round ones. We bought this one a few weeks ago and it has some real bite to it! The added studs really do make a difference.

It's ace, one side is nicely padded for prolonged use, the other (leather) side gives a really nice sting 
I have both and the Fetish Fantasy one can be as evil as you would imagine. But at the same time, it's massively better quality. Being one piece there's no risk of it falling to bits, it's easy to keep clean so is hygienic too.
Of all of the Bondage Boutique paddles we have, the round one is possibly the worst when it comes to quality. It feels great in use and can provide a nice sharp sting if used with that intent, but it would probably be the last one from the range I would recommend.
This one: http://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=15750 is lovely. It leaves nice prints if you get the impact right and the edges of the hearts give a nice scratch when traced over reddened skin. It's not as harsh as the Fetish Fantasy one but it still smarts.
Or there's this: http://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=15747 which is a little bit crueller than the heart one but is still not as skin breaky as the silicone.
I have recently tried the LH paddle. It is satin on one side which makes a good noise but is not too stingy. The other side is leather and gives a really sharp stinging blow.
Got one similar to this. http://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=15747 from another site, before coming to LH I might add. Delivers a good sting. Also got some wooden paddles. Heavy and light. Use to suit whatever mood.
We have got the bettie page paddle and we enjoy it as it has got two different sides as well.
