The Christmas thread!

hiya folks!

i thought i would spread some of my christmasy feelings over here and make this thread, for us to talk about all things christmas :-D

im really, really looking forward to christmas this year, for many reason

1) it shall be the first xmas me and the OH will get to spend togther! (yay!)

2) i love this time of the year and the build up to it, and i think we could all do with something to look forward to.

3) i love to give, it makes me so happy to see loveds ones face light up with the gifts that i can give them. to spoil the people who really deserve it.

4) the memorys that ever christmasy bring and making new ones as well.

5) spending so much quailty time with loved ones, being happy, relaxed and having fun.

christmas still holds that magicalness for me, even at 23 its my most faviourit time and love the whole build up and time its self.

the only thing i dislike about xmas is, that we lost both my grate nan and grandad at xmas times and i miss them so much and miss spending xmas with them. but i know there with us in sprit.

so how many of you are looking forward to this xmas? and what will you all be up to for it?

Dxx

Hey,

I have lots of views on christmas

  • I do feel to some extent the magic has gone I mean once of a day, Christmas stuff wasnt in the shops until December, now it's October, sometimes September ! I get all excited when I first see it but by Christmas I do get a bit bored of it all. It's like Turkey, it's available all year. Now I feel Christmas dinner is a glorified Sunday Roast
  • I too love to give. Like most of us money is tight through the year so I like to spoil people if I can at Christmas. However, on the subject of giving I feel a lot of people, think that is all Christmas is about (Presents) but in my opinion it is a special time for family to be together and whether its everyones cup of tea or not, lets face it, it is after all a religious celebration. I wonder how seriously people take these values. I try to remind my daughter how lucky she is and I do make sure we all sit and watch the origional Band Aid video before we have our gifts.
  • On the plus side, having my daughter has put the magic back into Christmas. I love leaving the mince pie and milk out for Santa, seeing the pleasure on her face as she recieves her gifts, writing her letters to Santa etc

I am 23 also Diamonds and I know I must sound so negative. I dont mean to , I can and do have a good time ! Lol. Just my (Boring) opinion

xx

*jingle bells, jingle bells!* This christmas I've got my two kids with me now so that will be nice. Obviously with what's going on with my mum we'll all be spending as much time with her as possible. Myself and my sis are doing the christmas dinner between us for 9 and one baby! I've just ordered the turkey and lamb and this year a duck! From my local butcher. I've got all my pressies but need to wrap loads yet. My OH and I go to a local farm for our real trees about 10th dec! I buy all the veg for dinner from him too. Should be a nice family occasion as usual. I go to my OH:p on christmas eve to drop all their (hers and her two kids) pressies off and we have a few wines and a roast turkey+stuffing butty! I put around a stone on every christmas and get rid of it by march! :-) SG x

xmas day gathered together with all my family having a laugh getting absolutely hammered playing games and eating some really nice food.allways start the day with smoked salmon and champagne for brekky then it happens whatever happens mmmm nice

I am not religious and dont celebrate christmas for the jesus part.

I am the same as LY, its more about being with family.

I like spending a few months getting exactly what I want to get and they love it when they open it. To me the giving part is just as good if not better as the receiving part.

I do think that it has been over comercialised, its around from september onwards. I always think it'll be great, there is such a build up. Then it gets to boxing day and you think, well that was quite fun what to do now.

I also think that it seems an excuse to have loads to eat and drink, I usually try and give to charity at that time. It makes me a bit sad that people are stuffing their faces over christmas but theres others that have nothing.

I am 19 so yes I am an early scrooge lol.

we allways have a couple of friends over who are alone normally so they have a bittof fuss and fun too .my xmas allways lasts for 2 weeks it's an annual holiday for us all and we love to party

I love christmas!

It's the one period I get to spend loads of time with my family and we all get on and watch crap tele together.

It's often the only time I see my grandad throughout the year as he lives abroad.

I get to eat all the yummy food my dad prepares - scrambled eggs and smoked salmon on toast for breakfast, posh soup for the dinner starter, a big roast turkey with all the trimmings and chocolate and cakes and a snooze on the sofa for after!

I love spending the morning in the kitchen preparing veg, the afternoon in the pub whilst the turkey's cooking and the evening watching musicals and christmassy films!

I love buying presents for people too - we start in October (I ignore all the christmassy music etc. so I still get excited closer to the time) so we can put loads of effort into getting really thoughtful gifts without breaking the bank.

I love christmas music and love how town comes alive in the run up. I love christmas decorations and fluffy socks with snuggly jumpers. I love christmas food fairs in Liverpool.

In the space between christmas and new years it's just great to spend time all together :)

Though I don't see WandA 'til sometime after boxing day, but it's ok :)

I like spending time with people and putting shitloads of thought in to pressies! I like the warm fuzziness behind xmas, it evokes thoughts of mince pies, warm fluffy things and happy people!

I'm looking forward to my first xmas with Ad when ever that will be. I don't do the whole Jesus lark and prefer to celebrate the people around me.

It'll be amazing! Though I can't help but think it won't be until after we have kids since I'm always going to want to be with my family and you'll always want to be with yours :(

I once bought my sisters fella a vibrating vest that plugged into the PS2! Years ago. He gave me it back on a birthday years later. It was total shite too. I was just thinking about WandA's comment about putting thought into pressies. :-s I do nowadays though.

Hehe.. Sure that vest isn't for naggy spouses?

I'm amazing at pressie buying! I listen to people.External Media

I've felt for a few years now that Christmas hasn't been that great but I'm really looking forward to this one! I know the whole family has some great presents coming, and I'm really looking forward to seeing their faces when they open mine. I've been making an effort this year to get things done early, which means I can take the time to find them something they really want/is thoughtful, and also saves me money by being able to shop around online. Can't believe there's still a month to go, I want it to be now!

We do put a lot of effort in to present buying and get things that are thoughtful!

WandA spends hours trawling the internet and we'll start thinking about christmas in the summer so if we see anything whilst out we can pick up bits here and there. Rather than rushing the week before and paying the odds for rubbish presents!

going xmas shopping today whoopie doo

I'm getting excited, we are counting the days, i love putting up the decorations with the kids, helping them wrap presents, seeing them so excited on Christmas eve, they put reindeer food out and Father Christmas brings them all a bag with new PJ's, tooth brush, chocolate a book and a toy. Then Christmas day seeing how excited they are in the morning i just love it all! I'm slightly concerned because the presents are getting more and more expensive

I don't usually put my deccies up till the 13th but last night my kids informed me that they were putting them up on the 1st end of story! I've told them there'll be no tree till about 12th but they're insistant! When does anyone here put theirs up? SG x

Looking on ebay for lots of christmas stuff. I am looking forward to it and I dont have too bad shifts.

Glad your shifts land well for you MM. I finish for christmas at 6am christmas eve! So I'm hoping to be well sorted by then so I can go into Liverpool city centre and soak the atmosphere up, grab some nice food and something to drink with the OH and all the kids! My two and her two. SG x

Only really 2 people left to buy for!

Xmas could be done in Nov for me!
