The Sandbox

@Ian_Chimp - I know. Caterpillars are like tiny poop machines.

I went with worm because I could at least pretend I have one of those Gummi worms in my mouth instead… albeit a bit more lively

They are not the same texture. At all. :slightly_smiling_face:

If you like to play with the formatting then this is the topic for you. You can have a no-pressure practice of pretty much anything you fancy in here. :+1::slightly_smiling_face:

There are also a few extra tips in Bonus Formatting too. :+1:

Oooh thanks - so many options in here! Of all the many forum architectures I’ve seen over the years, this is something different with lots of interesting options! I’m disappointed there’s no scrollable topic list to the side of the page, but very few forums use that these days!

Having a bit of a practice at this
And now this

Think that’s gone very well all things considered

There are a few ways to do it, but the simplest is just highlighting an extract and a little floating QUOTE box will show up. Tap that and it’ll auto fill all the bits into your reply box. :+1:

Feel free to have a practice in here. :slightly_smiling_face:

Apparently I can! Cheers…

It seems you can nest the <small> tags to go diddy. :slightly_smiling_face:

Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

I think I’ll need hawk eyes to read that small :joy:

Doesn’t seem to work for big though, at least not for me!

No, the internet said it would work, but it doesn’t seem to on here. :man_shrugging:

@Ian_Chimp Sorry, been busy, busy. This is the source code for my question number 10 in the quiz:

10. P &nbsp; á &nbsp; ci &nbsp; ? = <big>J</big> <small>a</small>!
      1 &emsp; &nbsp; 100

All three of the methods I know for different sizes spaces seen to work so that’s good :+1:t2:

I this en is two spaces em is four spaces but nb is the one I use by default… I have no idea what these letters stand for but they seem to work. I only used two different ones in the question text to see if it worked.

Ah, okay. I knew nbsp (Non-Breaking Space), but the others are new to me. :+1::slightly_smiling_face:

After a bit of digging:

  • ensp is N-space
  • emsp is M-space

And there are also:

  • thinsp is thin space
  • hairsp is hair space
  • mdash is M dash
  • ndash is N dash

Let’s see if any of those work. :slightly_smiling_face:

Yeah, the example I found looked like you could prefix a line and it’d do all the spacing consistent. But I haven’t got time to look at it now as I’m off to pick the kids up. :slightly_smiling_face:

ETA: I think that sample page I found was random, or I misunderstood it. :slightly_smiling_face: I just put them in individually in the end. :+1:

Lose the space before the semi colon, add a space after it.

…oh I see what you mean, might be a way to encompass that with curly brackets in normal html but I’ve not got any of that type of formatting to work on the forum.

Happy school running!
