Hi there, the best advice I can give is to take things slowly and stop immediately if anything hurts or is uncomfortable. Make sure you use lots of lube - this is essential – I use either Sliquid Sassy or Lovehoney Discover anal Lube, as they do not contain any chemical nasties - but there are lots of anal lubes on LH to choose from:

Before you start experimenting with toys, try exploring each other with your fingers, starting with one and working up gradually till the point you feel most comfortable, that will give you a starting point of what size toy cicumfrance you need, and then its a matter of time you can start working up in sizes,if your enjoying the play.

THE 1ST RULE of ANAL OF PLAY is PLENTY OF A GOOD LUBE!!! which is made for the act of this type of play.

DON'T go to BIg at first, you dont want to hurt your partner,

Lube lube lube and start off small and slowly. There are lots of threads around with help on this x

Have a bath, on your own, lube and your fingers, play,,,, see how it feels and go from there?

Me & my OH just started anal, would recommend the basic anal probe.. Didn't feel uncomfortable what so ever but use plenty of lube.. Just building up to have him inside me as he is rather large!
