Hi all,

Me and the wife are looking at getting our first anal toy and am pretty nervous but excited at the same time, However was wondering what people would recommend as a first anal toy.

I am not much help here, as i'm still an anal play newbie, but because my first was plug, my recommendation would be - plug.
I have Dr Johnson Small and medium ones. They're with t-bar. And they're so simple and beautiful.

Hi there, the best advice I can give is to take things slowly and stop immediately if anything hurts or is uncomfortable. Make sure you use lots of lube - this is essential – I use either Sliquid Sassy or Lovehoney Discover anal Lube, as they do not contain any chemical nasties - but there are lots of anal lubes on LH to choose from:

I recommend this not on price or size but because of it's shape, most "beginner" plugs don't have enough difference between stem size and head leading to it falling out, it should stay in on it's own, don't forget lube and you can both use it (cleaning of course), you'll end up one of three ways; hate it, tolerate it or love the feeling - if you love it bet you'll end up getting bigger ones!

Really it depends what you want to achieve from your anal fun. I am a massive fan of anal play, but never been into anal beads at all - and I am sure others will hold a completely opposing view.

For me, anal fun is about penetration (though yet to achieve a comfortable deep penetration) but also mostly about girth. Hence I am a fan of wider toys which are not too long in length. Obviously it takes a lot of time to build up to the larger girth toys but nothing is impossible - especially if you enjoy the journey along the way!

Generally I prefer butt plugs and dildos.

As Scorpius has already pointed out, take it slowly and use plenty of lubricant. And of course RELAX. Take plenty of time to get each other relaxed and aroused - if you are tense in anyway, then it's not going to be pleasurable.

If you haven't played anally AT ALL then you may want to start really slow and just use fingers. Scorpi always suggests using some Latex Gloves so you don't have to worry too much about any mess. You can buy large packs quite cheaply now, and as you only really need to use 1 glove at a time, they will last a long time!

Would definitely recommend a small plug as a first toy before working your way up to something like anal beads.

My vote goes for a plug.There are many small ones on LH.My first anal toy was a plug and I totally loved it.I have some anal beads still in their packaging,afraid to try them,lol.

I got reverse beads as my first purchase and they did nothing for me so I came straight back to LH and bought a penis plug which is my fave ,I have lots of plugs but my first one is still my favourite and I have only used the beads that one time !

I'm not a fan of the bullet that came in the bundle but that's easily changed as most of us already have bullets. Don't know what I've been afraid of all this time, there's nothing to worry about. Have fun x
