The getting to know each other thread made me want to know everyone a little better. I started asking myself what type of people were on the forum so I am asking you what you do for a living? Do you like your job and why. Also why did you want to do that at the first place and does it still apply?
Let's start with myself:
I'm a first year med school student. I wanted to do that because it's something challenging that makes me push myself so others can benefit. I like the idea of saving lifes with the knowledge I have acquired. Also, I love science and how it evolves. I like the human body, helping people and resolving problems so it's the perfect job.
I'm currently a carer for an adult with learning disabilities, although I'm expecting a baby in May so I will then become a stay at home parent. :)
I do enjoy my job, but it's challenging, and it's not something I necessarily set out to do. I got into caring on a whim as I needed a job, the pay is terrible but I find it so rewarding so I've stuck with it. Plus I've been working 1 to 1 with this guy for a number of years now so we have a strong relationship and I'm definitely going to miss him when I leave.
I actually wanted to become a geneticist, but unfortunately I had a lot of medical issues and had to withdraw from my degree halfway through the final year to have major surgery. I'd love to pick that up again some day (after raising children) as it's a real passion of mine and I really enjoyed doing my own genetics research for my dissertation, I'm gutted I didn't get a chance to finish. I'm very happy to soon be raising a family though, that's what I've wanted more than anything my whole life :)
I am a parent support Advisor which means dealing with any issues that a parent or family may face, run parenting courses, deal with benefits, housing, immigration etc ...you name it I deal with it.
But thinking of going back to uni...a huge leap at in my 40โs
Sports therapist for children with learning difficulties. Cycling Instructor for adults and young people with disabilties/ cultural exclusion. Personal development mentor for instructors working with people with learning difficulties....Seriously draining stuff, which is why Mistress Wife takes over at home time....
Spa Therapist! I used to really enjoy it, but now it is draining and very very demanding on my body. My shoulders feel like they are going to drop off my shoulders at any given point and I cannot put any pressure on my one wrist without pain. I am heading off to uni this year or next to get out of this industry, otherwise I'll be out of a career by the time I'm 25.
Just studying AAT so hopefully be a fully qualified accountant soon ๐ (but in the mean time I work in retail)
AAT is how I got into it FW ๐ and now I'm about to start CIMA, feel like a nutter signing up for another 3 years but it'll all be worth it in the end.
And forgot to say in my other post, I actually love being an accountant as boring as everyone else seems to think it is ๐
I'm a PhD student studying the History of Art. I specialise in depictions of the body, but more specifically erotic art and pornography. I'm hoping to work in museums one day.x
I'm a Health Care Assistant, previously on a cancer ward but now with a small team that insert Picc/mid lines to assist the administration of intravenous therapy. Very rewarding, we make a difference.
