What is it with nipples?

I've been spent some time browsing lingerie, noticing that it's practically impossible to properly see open cup braws because generally the model is hiding her nipples with her hands. Alternatively, there might be nipple pasties stuck on them.

Apart from the fact that I thought nipple pasties are supposed to emphasize the area (making it really jump out in certain pictures) - why is there a problem with showing female nipples when you can see male nipples practically everywhere???? The nipples don't look all that different, after all...

I've never for the life of me understood why it's perfectly acceptable for a man to walk around topless but not a woman.

Nipples and indeed breasts are perfectly normal biological organs. There is nothing sexual or indecent about them.

Agreed! Never seen why a mans nipples is ok and women's are not. On a similar yet also slightly off topic I've never seen why breast feeding in public is an issue I bet the ones complaining would be the first to complain if a baby was screaming because they're starving hungry.

That's what women's nipples are for... Feeding their babies and there could be just as much arousal in men's nipples as there is in women's too so why is one ok and one not?

Yup, never understood this either!

At last! I totally agree.. why is it okay for a man to expose his???? grrrrrr

But you can post photos of boobs and it's ok just so long as your nipples are covered

It's google's fault

WHY do men have nipples anyway?!!

Yup, blame google. They reckon female nipples count as pornographic material and so Lovehoney have to cover up or they'll drop in the search results.

I always thought the hand posing was pretty clever on here, especially with the Lovehoney models. Covers the nipples without covering all the bra detail :)

Everybody both male and female should be aloud to show as much flesh as they want.

I don't understand why google rules prevent the showing of nipples on this site, when you can use google to find other sites that show a lot more than just nipples.

I think the reason men have nipples is because, all embrios start life as female, and then some evolve into male, or something like that, but in a bit more detail.

If a girl was totally flat chested, would that be ok(on show) as they would then seem similar to a guys? so is it the size not the look thats not allowed?

If you turn off browsing restrictions, Google shows "everything" you can imagine.

Well so we can suck, lick and play with those little suckers :)

Yes we can all blame Google grrr...

This has never bothered me personally as i don't think nipples are attractive to look at, i've always hated my own!

It's not Google - long before there even was an internet, in 1979, Alien had problems because of visible nipples when the women woke from cryosleep (i. e. a completely non-sexual context. At a time when there was a bedroom scene in practically every movie...)

Personally, I don't care a lot about what can be shown where in "real life" (I can live with the anti-exhibitionism laws in France - yes, The gendarme of St. Tropez is still a theoretical possibility, even if I think the police have more urgent things to do than chasing nudists) - but when I am looking for lingerie, I want to be able to properly see the item, and when there's hands hiding most of it (like here: http://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=20980) I can't. Who makes these stupid rules about what can and can't be shown?

Quiet Ones Are Worse... Thanks for referring to "flat-chested" ladies as "similar to men's" :(

You may have misunderstood me, as they are similar is it only that womens are larger that makes them not ok to have on display?, no offence implied, I was getting at.

I dont get it either, its ok for u to see all the rest of the breast why not the nipple, same as I dont understand all this breastfeeding argument its perfectly natural

@Quietones. Sorry, I did misread, and I'm rather sensitive on that subject :/

I feel you, I am a fellow member of the flat-chested club :/

because we all start off developing breasts and basically developing as a female in the womb. The Y chromosome in males stops this development at a certain stage (which is after nipples have been formed) and starts forming male bits and bobs, the absence of the Y chromosome in females causes the original development to just carry on ( at least that's what psychology AS level taught me, I might be talking rubbish here lol)
